As a Christian, I admit that I know next to nothing about the Muslim faith & it's prayer rituals.
However, I found this sort of odd......

A few moments ago, I took a brief restroom break to answer the call of nature.

Seconds after I walked in, another guy walked in.
As I was in the "handicapped" stall, so I could not see him. Only hear.

This was the "odd" thing...prior to unzipping & "watering the ducks"...this guy prayed to Allah.

Once he was finished, he said."Praise be to Allah!", and zipped up.

Then he proceeded to leave the restroom without washing his hands.

We probably washed his hands in the toilet... However I question his true faith as most utter the words "Allah Akbar!" Both after prayer and after beheading people...
 
Since it sounds as though that like most of them he was opposed to washing, I would have to guess that at first he was praying for no one to come in while he was unzipping and then thanking allah that no one did come in while shaking the dew off the lilly and being overcome by the smell of goat.

I had something else on my mind when I typed that. It even surprised me when I saw it.

Anyway ... I thought you were in one of our prairie states. I actually saw 4 young male adults kneeling on blankets (or whatever they're called) and "praying" in the side parking lot at a gas station in Kansas in 2007 when we were driving to South Dakota. That was the first contact I had with Muslim religious practices.

Strangely enough, you are NOT the first person on this forum to mistakenly call me "Nick". (The other fella had me confused with another one of our HOBs.)

I remember several times between 2006-2011, seeing traveling Muslims praying on their rugs, on the grass at one or another of the rest areas along I-70, between Goodland & Topeka, while I was running my delivery routes.

But this was the first time I ever had it happen IN a restroom while I was there.
 
I was on my way to work one fine morning around 5:00 in the AM. I stop at a Chevron station to fill up the Silverado. I walk up to the door to enter and pre pay and the door is locked but I know the station is open for business. So I peer through the window didn't see anyone until I look down at the floor and sure enough there a rag head praying to allah whatever on his friggen carpet (I can say that cause I'm half rag head myself CHRISTAIN) So I started pounding on the door whilst shouting "yellah yellah" (a rab for hurry the f#%k up) "your gonna make me late for work dammit I aint's got time for this chit". His eyes got real big didn't say a word unlocked the door staring at me likes I was crazy... I am... Grizz

I don't think you guys are being fair to Jonny jihad the mystery man. Will said he was listening to a guy take a leak but wasn't able to see him. He said he used the English, but didn't mention an accent. Just because he didn't wash his hands doesn't mean he came from the land of goats, camels & rolls Royce. For all we know it could have been Bubba the book mobile driver on a germ jihad. At 4:45am in Oregon, I think it's a question worth asking.

You are correct that I detected no sort of accent.
However, nowadays, that really means nothing.
There are thousands [?] of people in the USA, of some sort of Middle Eastern descent, that were actually born here, & grew up w/o an accent....especially if they grew up in the Midwest or Great Plains regions.
And then you have those white, black &/or any other color USA citizens who weren't BORN into a Muslim faith, but have converted to it.
I couldn't tell you whether the fella in question was white, black, yellow, red or purple.

I CAN say with certainty that it was NOT the book mobile driver, as he is a retired white guy who I've seen at church.

And yes, at least us folks in the Great Plains, still have public libraries.

Not all of us insist on reading our books on Kindles & the like.
I, for one, am very grateful that Salina has the great library it does.

It gives me free access to a computer, and a couple of acres of actual books; DVDs (movies ranging from pre-code Hollywood to films that just have been released to DVD); music CDs (from all genres around the world); to paintings & such that a person can "check out" for a month at a time, to decorate his/her home with.

One of the few things that Salina's tax dollars are used for, that I actually approve of.
 
they set up to face Mecca when they pray. It's considered extremely rude to cross between them & Mecca while praying.

When possible they'll set up right against a wall so there's no room to do so, more commonly they will place an object at the end of their prayer rug. Walking on the other side of it is OK, walking between them & it is not. It's also kinda hard to do as the rugs really aren't that long.

You pay taxes on disability? That seems like taxing the same $ twice, since the money to pay disability comes from the taxed income of the workforce.
