I just know we are gonna get our first yote!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Me and Lance went out to some new land tonite to listen and for me to play around with my howling. We heard coyotes from 4 different directions. Heard one old male sound off not 30 sec after I let loose on an interrogation howl. I did some more bark/howl combos and a pack told the world they were there from the other side of the pasture. We went around to the other side of the farm and not a second after I shut the 4-wheeler off, sounded like 100 of 'em were just across the hollar givin us the dickens. I let em know I was there and nothing. We called and waiting. Still nothing. We decided it was too cold to sit there any longer and when I flicked the head lights on...THERE THEY WERE!!!!! Now I know I'm doing something right!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

THEY BETTER LOOK OUT! I GOT A GOOD FEELING ABOUT THIS WEEKEND!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Maybe this isn't so exciting to some of you veterens but it sure got my blood racing!!!

This is my 40th year and ya got my heart racing. I love it when folks are excited about their hunting. Don't forget the camera. I too have a good feeling about this weekend.

Be careful and don't burn them out and educate them while you're learning. I don't know if you turkey hunt, but it's generally bad to go out ahead of the season and practice call the toms in your hunting area. They'll get skittish and hard to call. Same for the coyotes and probably more so. I'm glad you're feeling good about it and learning, but it might be wise for you to "slow your roll, player!" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Dont let em fool ya Marijane, it gets their blood pupming too. Congrats on your howling, looks like your doing something right. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Try a red light next time instead of your headlights.

Don't misunderstand, I get as excited as anyone and think this is really cool, all that energy and enthusiasm. Just don't want her to mess her area up and do long term damage. In Missouri you can't use e-callers or lights at night, so while the red lens would be ideal, it's not legal.

Don't let my wife know I was out with you or she'll skin me alive. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sounds like you had a fun time. It's only a matter of time now till you smoke a yote. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Be sure to take a camera Marijane. We want to see pics of at least the first one!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Man, I'm still shaking I'm so pumped!!! I wish I could not go to school and hunt but I know, I know..."get your education young lady." /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gifI bet I could learn more from a yote than my stiff teachers...:/

I AM SO EXCITED!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I know I already said that 100 times but I can't help it...I'm about to drive my dad crazy talking about it...lol... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Love your attitude! Your post title says it all. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Good luck this weekend.

Tony

Sounds like you found'em, ya ya go get your education but make sure you dont over educate your prey by using the same calls! I'm happy for you that you found them now just go ahead and pick'em off one by one! Now that you are pumped about it you will be that way everytime you hear one!

Good luck, sounds like you have plenty of energy to get your first.

Not being critical, just be sure you don't educate them with the fourwheeler and howling. Try to set a few minutes with it shut off after you get in position before you howl and try to locate. I think the old dogs will start to pick up on the relationship between the howl and the fourwheeler if you do this much.

Again, not trying to be critical, just trying to help you out.

I just called in a bobcat this last week and it had me shaking for an hour. I get pumped up everytime I call in a critter. If I ever lose that feeling then I will quit hunting them. It absolutely ROCKS MY WORLD!!!!

Love your enthusiasm girl. Now go bust one and post a pic. We're all rooting for you!

David

i have only shot one yote so far i get too excited seeing them making their way to me after i am calling. i have missed 3 that were only like 50 yards or so away WAY to excited. i love this though, good luck and like said take a camera or youll be in trouble with WEASEL-UT, j/k.. good luck

GO GIRL!! YOU GET EM!! But just like the other fine posters here said use caution not to educate and make them spooky.
Or spookier than they already are.
Heck i am excited for you and i am 2000 mi away.
Let us know about your weekend.Don't keep us in suspense..
