I owned this caller about 3 months and not really sure if I like it does anyone have ant feedback onthis caller too many sounds I think

i'm just not having a whole lot of luck and everyone seems to keep talking about the fox pro, maybe its me but I've hunted all my life and pretty much did 24/7 even at night for coons rigtail, fox etc but nevered called just spotlight
and we did it as kids you sell coon hides for decent money but back to the caller is this a good caller or should I start all over with a fox pro

Kinda figured that's where you might be headed.

Yeah, you hear it all the time. Foxpro this, Foxpro that, blah, blah, blah. BUT, that's because more people own and use Foxpros than all the others combined. You are naturally going to hear about them a LOT. They are good callers. FP has a well deserved/documented reputation for their customer service!

That being said, I can tell you this. Your lack of success is NOT because of the caller you are using. If your Western Rivers caller is producing any kind of a noise that half azz sounds like it SHOULD or WILL call a predator, then it SHOULD and WILL.

Look beyond the calling machine. Maybe look into buying the Tony Tebbe instructional DVD (or others). READ these forums right here on this board. Lots of free info here if you'll take the time to read it.

In my opinion there is nothing like being in the field and experiencing it hands on. If'n I was you, I would try very, very hard to find someone in your area that has experience, knowledge and success at this predator hunting game. Ask them, beg, bribe, offer to buy them lunch and gas. Whatever it would take for someone to take out and show you what it's all about. The hows, whys, whens. Heck, tell em you would just like to ride along, leave the firearm at home.

There may be someone right here on this board that may be willing to take you under wing and let you tag along. Put up a post asking/pleading for someone in your area to help a new guy out. Can't hurt nothing to ask.

Good luck.

I know it's me and paid a lot for it I'm either playing it too long or too loud but they will talk to me but won't come in except once I had ghilla suit setting under a cedar tree sitting there for a long time gave up and stood up and one barked like adog proably to warn others never did see him it's just frustrating when you've hunted all your life and know how but no luck but 1 guy did send a PM to me to go I'm going take him up on it

Doggin coyotes gave great advise right there. It doesnt work like on the shows where it SEEMS like every stand a coyote is called in. Beeing out in the field enjoying it is better then sitting at home watching the boob tube or puter isnt it? Keep at it and things will happen eventually. I have called them in with my old JS corded preymaster with no problem so if your nite stalker makes sound your good to go.

Yes he did I just know I'm doing something wrong @48 and years hours of hunting still learning I think I would swap a deer hunt for tutoring we own about 3500 acres in Texas with some good deer and hogs that need to go away

I use a western rivers apache, one step down from your night stalker. i have brought a few bobcats in with it, there is a pic of a dead cat, rifle, and call in the hunting forum from this year. I had the older western rivers single speaker unit until this year, and it yielded better than the appache has so far, I am satisfied with WR products and service and warranty. I had a tough time starting out for a few years and finally figured it out last year, I was calling too loud. I call soft and continuous, half volume or less on the appache. I loaded some different sounds than came on the unit I have that I use but the sounds should work. Keep it up it takes a lot of trying I was amazed after probably 100 sets with nothing then BANG!! Suddenly I was getting a cat or coyote almost daily, just changed a few minor things that I was doing wrong and it went from failure to success, I, too blamed the call but WR builds a perfectly good product.

hey thanks I'm pretty sur it's me and it's agood caller I think I may be playing too loud and I could real use some suggestions on calls and how to set them up so I can some ideas

I have a WR Nite Stalker. (got it from cabelas special for $249) I would say all of the electronic callers, foxpro, minaska, wildlife tech, yadayada, etc... are all JUST remote controlled mp3 players on steroids.

You could easily get by with a $20 mp3 player from walmart and a horn speaker from radio shack.

I'm no expert, but I would venture to say that most of the time failure to call something in results from the setup, not the sound or caller.

My biggest downfall when going to a new spot is I have a hard time deciding where to setup. Over there? over here? back there? [beeep]? Just setup already. Lol

And what doggin coyotes said.

I would have to agree on set up for sure except where you are and I'm at out here in the Desert I think it's easier because it's wide open desert but then again where you are at it might be easier to see where they're traveling easier but I know 1 thing I'm enjoying getting people's opions and meeting new people this a good spot to be as far setting up

it works fine still learning I've had more luck at night I feel it has a lot of calls on it however some seem to be the same I'm going to delete some of them and add some new ones I do like the calls that have more than one animal on it such as the coyote and the crying rabbit, one night heard them barking seem like a mile away and 5 minutes they're on the ditch 10 yards in front of me

I like the WR Nite Stalker. I'm pleased with remote distance and volume. Holds plenty of sounds (4GB). Its alot better than my old cassette player and azden wireless mic setup. lol

I agree with tejas that many of the WR sounds are duplicates and probably not all of them are useful depending on where you are located. I talked about that here a few weeks ago.

Heck...I remember the days we used a cassette tape recorder. My friend was really special...he had a radio with dual cassette players so we dubbed a cassette of grey fox pups. Sounded awful, but we still called in critters.

I like mine it no need for all the sounds most of them are the same sound different name filter them out and then get some other from the net.
