To each his own claimbuster. And you are right, most accidents are pure stupidity in motion. But there are several other factors you are not considering. First and foremost, you were not there and have no clue what happened or who's stupidity it was (could have been the stupidity of the one who got shot for all you know) and second, have you never in your life done something completely stupid, firearm related or not, that you wish you could take back? If so, should you be labeled and punished the rest of your life? Of course, when thats all you got to use against Cheney I guess you take what you can get.
I believe that you and I are consistent on most of the facts here, save one.
Agreed, obviously I was not there, I do not know exactly what happened. I have only the jaded views of our news media to base my opinions.
Agreed, I sometimes think I have the corner on doing stupid things. As I get older I seem to do more stupid things, more often.
Agreed, nobody should be labled or punished for a lifetime.
TOTAL DISAGREEMENT, when I am carrying a firearm it is my responsibility, my TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY and mine alone, to be sure of my target BEFORE I pull the trigger! On that one, I will not back down. Whether it be the Vice President of the United States or little old me, we all have that same responsibility. Should an accident happen, God forbid, for any reason, I feel I hold the ultimate responsibility for that accident (mistake, stupidity or whatever) because I had sole control of the trigger. I made the decision whether it was safe, or unsafe, to send a bullet or a load of shot on its path. Therefore, I must shoulder and accept the consequences of my actions.
Lastly, I don't believe anywhere in my post I said or implied that I have something against Cheney. If I did, I apologize as nothing could be farther from the truth. To have someone who is a successful businessman, from a western state a step away from the White House, who understands those of us in the west....hey look where I live.
