What about the 358 Winchester

i have always wanted one. it is an overlooked caliber with many attributes. i wouldnt have any issue with taking a moose with one, the only drawback to the 358 like most non-magnum larger bores is the trajectory. 200yds or under it is a great round.

Good round but not very fast. See if you can find ammo with a 225 Nosler partition or other extra-sturdy bullet (Fail-Safe, etc.) Get close if you can, if you are shooting the 250-grain loads they will drop pretty quick past your zero, which should be at about 200 yds. Big bullet, moderate velocity, plenty of thump if you don't stretch the range.
I'd rather shoot a moose with the 250 than the 200 grain load. Better penetration and breaking through heavy bones.

Good luck!

The good-a great reliable game killer, easy to load, tolerable recoil, great smackdown, plentiful brass(.308 can be necked up), and a big blood trail if the animal goes anywhere. The bad-nothing I can think of except it is not offered in enough rifles. Mine is a custom barreled Rem bolt rifle and I like the 220g Speer over 748. TTT
