What are you drinking?

Figured I would bring this post back to life as I have been enjoying a couple pours with friends and tossing a few friendly games of darts in the garage.

Buffalo Trace is allright.
Buffalo Trace is pretty solid for me. I prefer its older brother, Eagle Rare 10 Year but it’s pretty tough to find locally and the price gets jacked to the point it isn’t worth it. I did just just yesterday receive what I ordered online and had shipped to me! It was a great day IMO! Really curious about the E.H. Taylor small batch. Haven’t had it before so we’ll see. Cheers!

Considering that EH Taylor is made by Buffalo Trace as well, it should be a good pour.
That’s the hope! Actually all 3 of those bottles are made by buffalo trace. The Weller is a very good inexpensive bourbon in my opinion. Easier to break out a $30 bottle for social drinking with my friends than part with my favorites! Lol… kinda hurt a little to part with the regular Buffalo Trace but I was out of anything halfway decent to offer up! Of course I offered the Jim Beam and Jack Daniels, but my buddies went for the Trace! Lol… I couldn’t blame them.

Looked it up, but apparently Idaho doesn't allow liquor to be shipped into the state, so I can't buy it.
I initially thought NY was the same, but it was just that a Shipment couldn’t come directly from the producer/brewer/distiller etc. They can be shipped here from a retailer directly to your door here but need to be signed for by the person over 21 that purchased it. Might be completely different in your state though?

Thanks, it's weird. I can buy wine online and have it shipped but not spirits.

Yes liquor laws are strange, I wanted to send a case of local wine to my sister. The winery couldn't send it to WI but could to MN so I sent it to a nephew and he delivered it on my sister for Christmas.

here it all has to go through teh state alcohol commssion. they decide what can be imported & collect the taxes on it all, so no direct shipping. Most sales are through state run ABC stores. If they don't stock it, they can order it. But only if it's in the state catalog.

There are private stores but they're also limited to only what's in the catalog.

It's way cheaper in FL. When I was diving out of Panama City Beach regularly I'd often stock up while down there & bring it home. A friend of mine called me a bootlegger LOL

That's funny because here, buffalo trace is the $25 bottle that can be had at every walmart, grocery and liquor store while Weller is unobtanium and is usually $80 and up into the hundreds if you are lucky to find one.

Stupid, isn’t it? BT is $50 easy (usually more) in my local zone. Weller Special Reserve is pushing the same which should be at least $10 less! A friend occasionally hits Ohio where it’s $30 so I try to get a few bottles when he travels.

State laws about liquor are very diverse. Seems nuts, but most government policies are!

Throwing back a few IPA’s tonight. Hoping to dig into the bourbon tomorrow!

Cheers, Guys!

same around here. BT and Woodford are everywhere. no limit, no restrictions. almost always at state min pricing.

green label goes fot about 65-70, red label is $130-$150 and goes up, blue is 300, orange is 400+ and ive never seen black label on the shelf. one local shop has a bottle of Millenium - for $7500.

thankfully i end up in toledo for work quite regularily, so i get to snag green for $30 and red for $65 on the rare occasions i see it (ive managed to get 5 in the last 2 years).

at $30, green label drinks well above its price point.
at $60+ its not even in the ballpark. i dont get why people even pay that much for it.

I don't have sophisticated tastes, I like my Rye with some coke. I started with Wheelhorse 101, tried Whistlepig, Bullet, Rabbit hole, Tin Cup, and I got the local watering hole to order in a bottle of Rye, they got Redemption. I've liked them all.
