What bedding kit to buy?

Are you planning on pillar bedding as well?
Is the stock composite or wood? (If composite, you need to
really rough up the action area and should drill some small
holes at angles to create mechanical locks for holding the
"mud" into the stock.)

I like to use pillars from http://www.scorehi.com/ but do not
care much for their ProBed2000. A big +1 for the Devcon,
although it's pretty expensive. Short of that, JB Weld will
also work.

Experienced or not, this article is a very good method to
follow:

ScoreHi type of pillars, but they work great for me.

Good luck

I have an H S Precision with an Aluminum block and a Hogue Ghillie Green with pillars. I really like the Hogue stocks, they are quiet, warmer to the touch, and the rubber coating seems to sit on cross sticks nice. They don't scratch up either. I need to see if the pillars are a bit above the rest of the bed so the action only contacts the pillars before bedded when torqued in. I would think roughing up the plastic would help the bond. I ordered a Gilbert Bedrock kit a bit ago but I am very familiar with Devcon as I have used it to fill cylinder heads in diesel pulling engines. Now that gets pricey lol.

i used the miles gilbert kit a few years ago. i would not use one again. the bedding never really got hard. so i ground it all out and did it again, same thing.

Plus 1 for the devcon and kiwi shoe polish. I have bedded several with that combo. Just be sure to put shoe polish, modeling clay or play doh anywhere that you don't want a permanent bond.

MARINE TEX is a great product also, buy the small kit and mix the whole thing at once and you won't have any problem.
I have soaked cured pieces of this product in many different solvents with no effect on it.
I shot Benchrest for many years and I bed all my rifles with it and never had any problem.

I did er up wit shoe polish and jb weld this morning. I just did around the recoil lug high enough it is around the bottom of the barrel but not coming up over the side of the stock and then back to mag box. It has aluminum pillars and the stock is all plastic so I figure the thin plastic sides will not matter much. I relieved one little spot where the action was peened on the front trigger retaining pin. The burr where it was peened was digging into the stock so I just drilled a little shallow spot there to relieve it. I have read where guys have had great luck just bedding the front of these stocks. I just hope the shoe polish does its thing lol.

It even came apart!!! Looks good. I put the jewel in it and now I gotta do some clearancing inside for the safety mechanism and on the bottom metal for the bolt release. Nothing is easy that's for sure.
