What Broadheads do you bowhunters use????

I'll add another for the Slick Tricks. You may like this head, he might like that one and so on. Shoot the all at a peace of 5/8" plywood from 20 yards out and you'll be surprized at which ones perform and hold up the best. Ive shot a nice 7 pointer and he didn't even know he was shot. The arrow blew through him and stuck in the ground. Also a turkey with the same results. For those I've tested from a 60lb Hoyt Protec, 27 1/2" draw, 350 grain carbon express arrow, all 100 grain points @ 260 fps :
NAP thunderheads (didn't make it/ trashed on 1st shot)
Muzzy ( blew through but bent so unsusable again)
NAP crossfire ( didn't make it/ bent)
NAP Nitron ( blew hru a couple of times but blades worked loose- good)
Sonic ( blew through a couple of times but blades worked loose- good)
Cut on contact heads ( didn't come close to going through)
Rocket steelhead (blew through but blades fell out)
Slick Tricks (blew through every time no loose blades no bent ferruls. Still use the same one for pratice and shooting into plywood for tests).
 
100 grain NAP Thunderheads. Two years ago I got my first archery deer. I used a 45 lbs. bow with some old Beman arrows spined for 50-70 lbs. bows. Don't worry, I practiced more than enough and they flew straight as can be. At 22 yards I got a complete pass-through with this broadhead. The tips worked great and she left pools of blood the size of basketballs. The blades caused some serious hemmorage and were still razor sharp ready to be used again.
 
I have used the Thunderhead 125s for years.

The arrows I have been shooting (Easton Epics)changed their grains per inch weight (they are heavier now) so I went with the 100 grain WASPs. They shot the same as the 125 thunderhead on the heavier arrow. I have not gotten to shoot anything with these new broadheads yet.

I killed 3 hogs last year with the old Bear Razorheads, and they worked like a charm. I didn't get any blood trails with them though. I never seem to get a good blood trail on hogs though, gun or bow.

That may not be legal in all states. It is not legal in Texas.

125 gr. Magnus Snuffers.

The guy that owns Magnus, Mike Sohm, is a friend of mine and they are manufactured in Gt. Bend, KS.

If you ever get close to there, look him up, he is a great guy, great customer service, and will give you a tour of the factory!

He also hunts with Uncle Ted Nugent, and manufactures a line of Ted's broadheads.

sonic 125's. I have had excellent results with these heads, everything from bull elk to whitey, to bear. Gotta try not to bleed to death when you put em together, but once you get the hang of it they are no problem. I would add that I used the slick tricks for two years, and was very impressed with the accuracy and toughness of these heads. I killed everything I hit with em, but not once did I get a exit hole...I think the steep angle of the 4 blades came into play.
 
Tekan by G5 is what I use on deer and have had excellent results. Muzzy 100gr 3 blades before that. No complaints from either. I have yet to use slicktricks. Everyone I've heard from that uses them likes them a lot though.

If you use 2 different brand broadheads for deer and coyotes, make sure they have the same point of impact.

I shoot a recurve bow and use Snuffer Broadheads.

The basics are still the same, now there is just many more choices!

I've met plenty of people that ought to go to school for bowhunting though.

What it all comes down to is practice with what you have until you are confident in your skills. Keep your shots within your limits and you'll do just fine.
 
Hey Razor,havent been on in awhile.i shoot razorcaps from NAP i have had excellent results. have heard of people having planing problems with them but they shoot fine through my setup.Theese heads are indistructable and resharpenable.they're a bit exspensive at first but are a good investment they hold a good edge keep reusing them .just touch them up with a wet stone.no more replacing blades.
