What bullet does the best for you ( .224 diameter)

My 22-250 is a slow twist barrel, so I dont think it will stabilize a LONG heavy 22 bullet ( 65-70 grain or more). Ive been loading 50gr Hornady Vmax and 50 gr Sierra ( I think they are Blitzkings) ( green plastic tip if thats any help??) and BOTH seem to shoot OK..but havent had the chance to do any serious "varmint killing" with them yet.

My factory ammo has been Remington 45 and 50 grain HP's. So what bullet ( and if you know the velocity include that too) have you been well satisified with in your "22". Dont matter if its a .223 or a 220 Swift...a 22 bullet is just that

50g VMax has worked the best for me in .223 Rem, followed by 60g Sierra HP, same rifle DPMS 1/9 twist. The only other bullets tried so far are 55g Blitz,55g Nosler/CT,60g Hornady HP, and 60g VMax.
I have some 55g Blitzkings loaded over AA2700 for a 220 Swift but not tried them out yet.
I am wanting to try some 60g Nosler Ballistic Tip and see how they work because I much prefer a BT bullet strictly from a reloading standpoint. I just think they start easier/straighter.
 
In my 1-12 twist 22-250 AI its a 52 gr. Hornady Amax. The other 22-250s are 1-14 twist and they shoot a 50 gr. Vmax best. I suppose they would shoot other bullets equally well but I will probably never know.
 
I have a Rem 700 in .22-250. So far no luck with 50 gr bullets, for some reason they don't want to group well. The 2 best so far have been the Sierra 52 gr match and 55 gr #1365.

The 52 gr is very accurate with the 55 just slightly less. My twist is 1:14 which is the standard for the .22-250. I'm moving the 52 gr at 3700 fps.

You may not have any luck with the 60 gr or 55 gr bullets with plastic tips.
 
I am currently reloading 223 and the bullets i'm using are 52gr A-max and 50gr Ballistic Silvertips which are both working great in my DPMS AR15 (1 in 8). I just got a Savage 22-250 a couple weeks ago and have only tried winchester white box ammo and it grouped good. I wouls suggest try bullets under 55gr and boattails, they seem to work the best in all of my rifles in various calibers.

I plan on reloading 55gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and 60gr Hornady HP in my 1 in 12 22-250.
 
My 22-250 and my RRA-PP (AR15) shoots the Sierra 52 Gr. Matchkings super good and the 250 shoots the Sierra 63 Gr. SMP's very, very well. The 55 GR V-Max bullets shoot mediocre in both.

In my 788 22-250, the Speer 52gr HP (1035) shoots incredibly well. Been shooting that bullet for 25 plus years. Haven't had a chance to try all the loads I have worked up for my RRA 18" Varmint. Have to get a new scope first...
 
I've had some good results with the 50-grain Hornady SX in .223, and 50-grain V-Max in .223 & .222 Remington. I do think the 50-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip is a little bit more accurate though.

I am about to try the 50-grain V-Max in .220 Swift, which I have never handloaded before. I have high hopes for it. If it doesn't look so good, I have some 50-grain BTs to try and I also have some 55-grain V-Max I can try.
 
40gr NBT's are my projectile of choice. They shoot great in my rifle (1:12 twist) and I have had absolutely nothing walk off after being hit with them. I have had good luck with the 50gr BT's as well, but they don't shoot quite as well in my rifle.

I have been shooting them in my 1-14" barrelled Swift for years with wonderful results. At better than 4000 fps they just make ground squirrels turn into atoms. Prairie dogs do not fair much better. Overall, I prefer the 50 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips over the Vmax, but it is almost 50/50 as to what I might load from one day to the next.

A week from Saturday I hope to be in Wyoming once again wearing out some of the local pasture poodle population. You can bet that my Swift loaded with some fast stepping 50 grain bullets will be going along.

I want to thank everyone for their input. It sure looks like Im going to burn up a lot of Varget trying some of these slugs out to see whats going to work best in my M700.

55 gr VMAX has been my go to fur load for years in the .22-250. 36.6 gr of H380. A little tuned down from a full load but extremely accurate in my rifle, Ruger M77, and I can not think of one exit wound on a coyote or bobcat with this load. It is also a very effective deer killer. I bet I have killed 25 coyotes with it, 6 bobcats and a dozen deer so testing is pretty good.
 
Sierra 55 grain HP's have worked best for me, in a 1-9" bolt gun and a 1-8" AR.
Benchmark powder works best in both too.
 
Ask 10 guys and you'll get 10 different answers. A lot of good bullets out there. I like 55gr bullets. Another good bullet that just works...1365 Sierra. 55gr spitzer.
 
I have three .223s..Two are 1/9 twist barrels and shoot 40, 50, 60, & 64gr bullets equally well, provided I load them correctly...The one 1/12 twist is limited to 60gr, and down, for really precise shooting..

Each has a little different chamber length, so that factor has to be included in my loads, or I can load all rounds basically the same and get acceptable accuracy, just not real precision..
