What do grey squirrels taste like?

Grey squirrels are good eating with rice.... Prefer youngsters and extra dry cooked... Squirrels from backyards don't taste as good, that's because they constantly raid trash cans and bags. 22LR or 17M2 to the head for extra meat...

Raccoons LOVE corn! Well they love pretty much anything that is easy to eat; like my cat's food!

To be honest, I think I'd rather eat raccoon than squirrels.

Racoon is good meat. So is beaver, believe it or not. I'm not real big on bear though. As for squirrels, they are ok. Just make sure you skin them right away. Once they cool down the skin is glued on.

Squirrels are easy to skin. I can skin one, gut it, and cut it into five serving pieces in about two minutes each.

Yep, tube skin them to the head and feet, cut it off the head and ankles, gut, and your done.

Our family's favorite way to eat squirrels is in dumplings. Just use your favorite chicken and dumpling recipe and substitute squirrel that has been cleaned and soaked in salt-water overnight.

We've done that with the older tougher squirrels and par boiling the squirrel helps a bunch. Squirrel dumplin's, seasoned taters, garden veggie salad, cat head biscuits, ice cold tea... yummy!

The jist of it is flour, cooking soda and buttermilk. Dough not turned toooooooooooooo much and then cut to lumps size as CATS HEAD

Into oven

We're talking big biscuits, son!

Aunt made em like this for years. (RIP auntie!) She hailed from Greenback TN, the home of the Deliverence movie setting, and not in Georgia where it was filmed. THE REAL SETTING BEFORE TVA FLOODED THE BIG T RIVER AND SCREWED MANY OUT OF THE NATIVE HOMELANDS!

Dont get me started on that communist F over!

Now ya know. Try em you'll like em!!

Non taken. Thanks for the explaination. He's from MO, I'm even with about the middle of his state, so he can't be more than a couple hours further south than me is what I was saying. I know I'm not southern, but IL isn't all Chicago...thank God.

I'm not old enough to be old school, but I guess for my age I like to do things more old fashioned than most...give me a few years and I'll be there.

Those biscuits sound good...maybe I'll find a recipe.

As we talk about this, I have a batch of squirrel in the frig thawing out. I will par boil these till tender, soaked in some homemade wine for a couple hours then they will be Bar B Que s-l-o-o-w-l-y with a light brushing of sauce. Over the winter I have eaten the pieces, but saved the hind legs for this feast. Another thing about squirrel, they are organic raised, vegetarian and free range, isn't this the in thing?

I did them on the grill and my oh my! that is some fine eaten! When you grill them they dry out, so put them back into a pot with bar b que and a little water, very little! simmer, they are soft and teast to good to share.

I dont care much for eating squirrel but they sure do put the stank in the gravy! just kidding love squirrel fried, slow cooked, baked awesome
