What do you folks think about a .22 Win Mag for Coyote?

Hi all,
I'm also new to varmint hunting but have been doing alot fo surffing and reading. I too will be using a 22WMR for fox/yote. That's what I have for a gun and can afford to shoot. I plan on spending lots of time at range and maybe do some g-hog shooting before the furs are prime (and after deer season). I intend to limit my shots to head shot at less than 100yrds, I know I'll be passing up some shots but thats the way it goes on a tight budget.

Many thanks again for the responses. I think for the time being I'll stick with the 22 Win Mag until I get a 22-250. I'm going to check out the night hunting regulations for PA as that will probably be my first adventure into this thing of coyote hunting. The rule book is a little gray as it states "any device used as a scope or sight cannot project a beam". Not sure if that means a scope light is illegal, so I have to check on that.

Well, she's as ready as she's gonna get for hunting. I zeroed it at 50 yards, and can hit tacks at that distance, and the bullet hits pretty hard at that distance. Took some shots at 100, around 3-4 inches low, but still seems to hit with some authority. It was too breezy to really get a good feel of the grouping at 100, but I think I should be within a half dollar or better. Still, I think at 100 yards I would wait for a closer shot. If I wasn't looking for a bass boat right now I'd buy a 22-250 and be done with it, but fishing is top priority. I need a second rig set-up just for bass more than I need anything, LOL.
