what ever happened to Dennis Kirk ?

I have his book "Predator Calling at its Finest" from maybe 30 years ago. I still go back to it for good basic info for calling in the northeast. Kirk_Prodigy you were blessed to have him for a mentor.

I met Dennis in Seward, Ne around 1988. He was speaking and giving demonstrations on calling at a fur takers convention. While there, I had a chance to speak to him and invited him out to North Dakota to film some coyote hunting. He traveled out that year as well as the following year. He made two videos of my friends and I calling coyotes. He also recorded our coyotes making various sounds. I believe he did market the sounds. I also worked with him in regard to the howlers and megaphones he offered through his business. Dennis was a great guy, and am sadden to hear about his death. I have attached a photo of Dennis and the group he hunted with here in North Dakota.

I remember talking with him and ordering this tape and the calls. When I saw this thread I had to dig in my box of old calls and see if I could post pictures of the things I found.

I called in and killed my first coyote many many moons ago with a Dennis Kirk howler ! Sorry to hear he has passed !

I had a DK Grey Fox distress sound when I first started calling predators in the early-mid 90’s. I had no idea what I was doing and thought it was a junk sound. As time went on and I had some success with rabbit sounds and Johnny Stewart gray fox pup distress. I rarely ever played the DK sound after that until bunch of years later when I converted the sound file from cassette to an mp3 and loaded it on my Minaska Bandit caller for kicks. First time I made a set with it I called in a grey in the middle of the day here in Central NY.

The best stuff out there?… I don’t think so. Effective?… In the hands of someone with some experience and knowledge of predator hunting/calling… It can be.

Sorry to hear of his passing.
