What happened to the 300 BO?

if i had to guess why the talk has slowed down - its simply because its a known thing now. the box that it fits in has been pretty much explored from one end to the other, and there arent many surprises left, barring some new innovative bullets.
most people understand its capabilities and limitations - or if they dont you can find that info readily now.
Hopefully as its adopted by more military we can get some more budget friendly commercial ammo out there (like near to 223 prices). I think ammo cost is its biggest limiting factor.

Writers get paid to push new stuff in Magazines. There is a lot of ammo out there to buy.
120gr to 220gr I think the 120 is 2150fps.
Even Sig came out with a 209gr sub round.
I should have my SBR stamp back soon for a 10.5 barrel 300BO
I just bought a side charger in 300BO for a new night scope.
Don't forget the CZ 527 in 300BO I bought came with a threaded muzzle.
I think 300 BO will be here for a few more years.
243 Winchester is still here after all the Creedmoor crap.
223 Remington is a live and well and I still shoot my 220 Swift.

A buddy has a 700 Remington in 300BO and runs it suppressed. While its fun to shoot and super quiet suppressed, I just haven't figured out what its really good for. I'm sure others have reasons for owning one but I just don't really know what purpose it would serve me as I don't own a suppressor.

+1 This. I built a 16" carbine and despite factory loads and hand loads...meh. Can it kill a coyote, sure.
I think after some of is figured out it was a .30 Russian in a new package as far as ballistics/accuracy and fit in the AR platform, the demand petered out. Still fun to shoot, suppressed or not. If I was in an urban combat situation and clearing door to door, sure why not?

I've got two of them a Ruger ranch rifle and a 8" barreled AR-15 I shoot both suppressed love the bolt action I can shoot anything from 90gr to 245gr but it really seems like more of a toy not a rifle I grab to go hunting with.

Same here. A few of my buddies have suppressed AR's in 300 Blackout. Every year we go to Texas to shoot hogs and predator hunt at night and for that they are awesome. But if you're not running one with a suppressor I think that kind of defeats the purpose. In that case I'd rather have a 7.62x39. Plus the 300BO ain't no 300 yard cartridge either so it does have its weak points.
In my opinion if you live somewhere that's over ran with hogs and you can hunt at night a suppressed .300 Blackout with thermal or night vision mounted on it is the only rifle a guy would ever realistically need. If you get the wind in your face you can walk out to a group of hogs feeding in complete darkness and put a hurtin on them with a set up like that.
