What Is Going on At FoxPro??

OK, I ordered a FX3 & was mad last week when I could not download some new sounds for a hunt last weekend, they had to ship me a CD, so that messed up my hunt for last weekend. I did get the CD yesterday & that's great but a little late for what I thought I could do when I bought the FX3.
Now that I have the new sounds I go to copy them to my caller & I can not print a new label (run time error 424) on two different computers running different operating systems. Now I'm mad, I have to hand type a new label for my hunting tonight or I'll never remember the number of the new sounds. I caller FOXPRO since the website has been down for a couple days & they said they knew of the issue & were working on it. Also said the web site would be back up a few days. A FEW DAYS!! I paid just over $600.00 for the caller, bag, etc, etc. I did not plan on waiting for a few days on anything, that's why I bought a FX3...

I hope they get this straight very soon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

They entire website is down. They are working on it. The error on the print utility is being worked on also. Im sure none of this was intentional. Doody happens.

The web site is down because they are making improvements so you can have better service in the future. At least with the CD they sent you already have a back up for the sounds. The problem with the label printing utility has been well documented on their board. Go to forums at www.gofoxpro.com and read the posts or give them a call and they will guide you through it. Chill out, these are good people, not perfect, but better than 99% of the corporate types you have to deal with today. Give them a chance and they will earn your respect.

Yes I'm sure they are working on it, but the caller has been out for several months now. I guess my timing could not have been worse for what I was trying to do...

I don't want my money back as far as go to the fourm (the web site is DOWN). I just want the caller to do what they said it could do, an I being unreasonalble?? I did call FoxPro this morning & they said they were working on the printing error, they did not guide me through a fix for it. They said a fix was in the works. And yes I could use hand calls, but I could use hand calls & saved $600 dollars. I guess I'm the only one seeing my point. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

sdeshazo,

I apologize for the inconvenience that you have been experiencing. Our website had to be transferred to a dedicated server, and this is taking longer than expected. The reason for the move was to improve download speeds. With all of the traffic to our site in the past month or so, and in sharing bandwidth with many other sites, we were forced into doing this now. As I am typing this message, I am on the phone once again trying to figure out what is going on. Now, as far as the print utility program, it only does it on certain computers, and our I.T. developer is not sure why. He has written a new program that will hopefully solve this issue, and will be uploaded as soon as the website is up again. This program was almost complete a couple weeks ago, but then both of his boys were involved in an automobile accident, and his 14 year old got lifeflighted to another location. His son was just released from the hospital yesterday, but his jaw will be wired shut for about a month. In the meantime, if you would like, I will mail you out new labels today. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience.

Mike I see this stuff is out of your control. Sorry if I sounded harsh. I do wish your employees a speedy recovery. I've already made a label in MS Word, so I'm all set for now, just needed to vent a little...

sdeshazo,

No need to apologize at all. I myself have been very frustrated with the issue. There was people having issues downloading the sounds, as the server would actually time out. Had it not been for the problem downloading sounds on the old server, I never would have switched mid season. Again, sdeshazo, if there is anything else that I can do, let me know.

I can't help but put in a word on this for both FoxPro and sdeshazo. Seeing the troubles Fox Pro is experiencing brings back bad memories of the introduction of the 512 caller back in the mid 80's for Johnny Stewart Game Calls. Our first shipment of callers from a brand new supplier was really poor in Quality. We did not know it was coming and was blindsided by the amount of defective product.

Out of the shipment of 3000 callers, 900 defective units were caught before they got out of the plant. Over time 400 more came back under warrenty. It was a nighmare. I dreaded taking phone calls but had to if I wanted to maintain our service and reputation.

One customer bought one and went to Alaska and was dropped into the wilderness without having even tested the unit. Needless to say, he was livid. I felt he was justified in his anger, even in light of his gamble. The other end of the spectrum was the guy in Okalahoma that was patient with us through the replacement of 5 units to him under warrenty.

All company's get tested by situations like these. The test of a company's quality is their response to the adversity. We have been involved since 1961 and I suspect that FoxPro will be around many years from now.

In these situations, I always tried to have patience with the consumer knowing that customers of my company have been conditioned by the same experiences I have had with companies that I had dealt with. Unfortunately there are many companies that do not respond on a timely, fair or complete basis. It is natural for the average consumer to assume the worst and expect dissapointment due to their previous experiences in purchases.

Sdeshazo, I hope you have some comfort from the realization that you made a good decision in your purchase with FoxPro. What could have turned out to be another in a series of dissappointments you may have experienced, may ultimately see you benefitting from the resolution of this experience by making future purchases with confidence and a warm fuzzy feeling that comes with greatly minimized feelings of cognitive dissonance.

I am going to let you research what that means. Any body out there able to help on the meaning of those words? (Hint) has something to do with the impact of decision making. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

sdeshazo,
I never could get the print utility figured out either, so I just simply went to Word Perfect on my computer and printed my own sound list, cut it to size, and put it behind the plastic on my remote and FX3. It took me two tries to get the size right, but it worked fine. That may help you out. Cal

Gerald, your college education is showing. I think you mean, "It'll be OK."

Gadgets break. Widgets get lost. Batteries die. But if you've got your gun, your shoes, and a mouthcall, go kill something. You'll feel a whole lot better.

I'm not trying to show off my Edgerkation with big words like that. They are the only ones that ever stuck with me. It is the only concept that stuck with me from all of those business courses. If I can't use that every once in a while...I will feel like I wasted my parents money. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cognitive dissonance...as I remember is when a person wonders if they have made a correct decision or not. It is that doubt that creeps in after they have made an important decision. I was trying to say that he would not have that discomfort the next time he chooses FoxPro because of the way they have honorably handled it this time.

Cal, is there supposed to be plastic on the remote like there is on the receiver?? My label is made out of adhesive paper (sticker)

I put contact paper on both sides of my labels and then simply scotch tape them over the original label. I hunt crows, foxes and coyotes(at least I like to think I am hunting Coyotes)and I switch sounds around a lot. I can reuse the same labels over without printing them again.
If you want something more permanent you can use double sided tape after removing the original label. Foxpro uses double sided carpet tape at the factory(saw this on a post in their forums).

Thanks Scott. I went to Staples and bought some 3x4" labels and have been printing them out on those. Then I just cut them out and stick em on.

That's a good idea about the contact paper. I may have to try that.

Good huntin'!

Mike,
Is the Skylinefirm a vendor that you are using for server space or is it in house? Just curious, as you mentioned your frustration with the whole thing. I'm not knocking the skylinefirm as a service or company, I was just commenting based on your comments.

Mike I must apologize for yesterdays post. After I took the 5 minutes to make my label we ran out last night & had a Bobcat in the cross hairs with in 15 minures of being on stand. The FX3 sure sounds good & the cats down here just love it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
