what is the cheapest scope you have on an AR that works?

$200 Bushnell 5-15x50, $160 Swift 6-18x50, and a $125 Leupold 3-9x40, no problems with any. Off topic but I've also ran a $70 Pentax on one of my 25-06's without issues

Have a Nikon P223 on one and a Bushnell elite 3200 on the other. Both do ok. I think the Nikon is brighter and crisper. Tried a BSA tactical on one a couple years ago. Couldn't believe how bad it was.

I have an Nc Star ACOG looking scope in 6X/$85. It is red and green with mid dot crosshairs. I have shot 3/8 groups @ 50yds with it on an AR. Now, I have it on a 223rem Contender 16in AR stocked rifle. Real backpacking rig. I have chamber insert so I can shoot 22 long rifles. I have been using this scope for five years. Still has the same battery. It is cheap but it works. You do not even need rings.

Put a UTG 3x12x44 with side parallax adjustment, mill dot, lighted reticle, target turets, 30 mil tube and came with rings for 124.99, had it on for a few months so far its great, I like it better than the nikon I had on it originaly.

I've *heard/read* pretty good things about the Centerpoint scopes. From what I understand they are made for spring piston guns so they should handle the recoil of an AR just fine. Also read/heard the clarity ain't to bad.

The topic is cheap scope, so there ya go. I've seen the Centerpoints at Walmart.

This is exactly what I am using. If I can put together sub .400 groups at 100 yards with it then I guess it is not all that bad. Even at 200 it works great. Had it for over 3 years now and not a single complaint.

Little "foggy" at 16x but they hold zero.

I have two of these, one on an airgun, and one will end up on a 17hm2 unless I find something else. Can't go wrong. If it's broke, take it back and get another one.

I bought one used from the classifieds here for a carbine. Haven't gotten to shoot it much as I haven't been in the country. Hoping to give it a work out. Knobs were stiff when I received it.

I have a pair of the Remington 4X 12's that come on the SPS combo sets. So far they do well and reside on my rarely shot AR uppers. One lived on my 6 PPC for a couple years and was shot quite a bit.

The cheapest scope I have used on an AR is a straight 4X Tasco, the model that has the 5 inch eye relief. It's a great scope, but no longer available. I think I paid something like $70 for it.

As to my most used scope on an AR, that would be a Mueller Sport Dot 2.5X10X44. Fantastic scope for the money, and I really like the illuminated dot. At the time, the scope cost $150.

I also have a couple of the $70 Pentax scopes. Gameseekers 4x12's. They hold up well. My son and I have them on our 22-250's. Have killed many of coyotes with my 22-250. For the money they are hard to beat. I have a Nikon prostaff 3x9 BDC and a 4x12 mildot that are not bad but are twice what the Pentax costs.

I have used a BSA sweet 223 in the past, but pulled it off because my hat would turn the turret on every shot and then it wouldnt go to the exact zero every time. Put it on my wifes ar and have no complaints because I cant shoot it (cheek weld issue) and we dont move the turrets. It is fairly clear too.

Both of my scoped ars I run nikon buckmasters one is a 4.5-14x40 md (264 lbc) and the other is a 3-9x40 bdc (223). Got both of them for a heck of a deal through midway. I like them for the ars, they are clear to the edges and bright. Used 10 moa test on turrets and they returned to zero, but they do not have zero stops.

For what I run on magnum rifles, the nikons are cheap scopes.

I have the Centerpoint 4-16x40 on my Colt AR right now. Plan was to use this if it would hold zero until I could afford to get some better glass. So far, so good. Had to put one in the ear of the little guy below just before dark yesterday. He was in an old cornfield with 2-3 foot stalks left in it and only left me his head at 100 yards. The Centerpoint was dead on. It gets tough to use at 15 and 16, but I usually keep it on 10 and it's quite nice for $60. Doubt it'll hold up, but I'll use it as long as it does.

Well, the Centerpoint went back to Wally World. Called in a yote and missed him at 200 yards, checked the zero of the scope later that day and it was way off. Leupold now resides atop my AR. What a difference in glass quality!
