I like Silvertips and Stalker recurve, but I'm more of a long bow shooter. Widow makes a fine bow as well as countless others.

Good luck

I only have exp with my Martin Hunter.Though I prefer longbows if I were to get another recurve I'd most likely go with either a Silvertip or Morrison. That said I'll be posting my compound in the classifieds soon to raise money for another longbow.Leaning towards a J.D. Berry.

Dave Windauer makes a great bow "Silvertip". "Bears Paw" bows from Neil Jacobson. Mike Palmer from "Palmer Bows" are just some of the guys who have made me bows over the years. I have personally met all of these Bowyers, they are all top notch guys. There are many other great ones, Robertson Stykbows. I have met a lot of these Bowyers at the Eastern traditional archery rendezvous in Denton Hill Pa. It's a great 4 day event where you can meet a lot of these Bowyers and shoot their bows. It's about a 7 hour ride for me but worth it.

Ive met a few of them at the CDloverdale In. shoot.Thats where I picked up a Fox recurve and BLaqck Widow and a Black Widow long bow.

Your favorite metal riser (DAS, Tradtech Titan, Sky, etc.) with a pair of Border HEXV or HEX6 limbs if you want to shoot it....if you want to admire it, Trail's End, Silvertip, any of the other "pretty wood" bowyers' offerings that are done with the most excellent of woodworking skills. I have literally spent at least a few tens of thousands in the past ten years or so buying, selling, and swapping about everything out there. If you have a question about a bow, I've probably owned one.....shoot me a PM.

Oh....BTW....I live in Bowyer Mecca here and have met several of the Montana guys....all have been genuine nice guys....if that sort of thing matters to you when buying a bow.

I've spent enormous amounts of money like Mr Taylor buying, selling and trading bows too. After trying all the top bows I realized I just couldn't find the perfect bow. Being a cabinet maker by trade I started making my own. It's really not hard to build a good performing bow.
The first 1-2 aren't that great but after building a few and getting the process down they start looking pretty good. With some basic tools a quality t/d recurve or longbow made with premium woods can be built for less than $200. I like to get my personal bows to final sanding stage then shoot them for awhile and shave a little off the grip here and there until I have a real nice custom fit.
If any of you are even remotely interested I encourage you to try it. The guys your handing that hard earned money to started the same way.

I should say that if I didn't shoot my own I would shoot a Bigfoot bows recurve. I like the bowyers craftsmanship and his new model is a serious 20 fps faster than most recurves on the market.

I like my recurves with a low pistol grip. Here's a pretty simple bow I made for myself. Bubinga and zebra wood with bamboo and black glass limbs.

I like to use industrial strength Velcro. You can get a 3' roll at Home Depot. I only use the soft, loop side. A lot of high end bows come with this as rests.

Very nice bow. You ever give thought to hand checkering the grip. Some guys love it and some don't. I always liked it personally.

This obviously not your first rodeo with regards to working with wood. Nice job

This is a hand carved Osage bow I made. I steamed a bit of a recurve into it. I have another longer bow roughed out and steamed with more of a recurve to it. Let me know if you would like to make you one!

Nope, the arrows are Port Orford Cedar. With simple died fletchings and 190gr. glue on tips.
