What kind of bore cleaner do you guys use?
I have been useing ProShot's Copper Solvent IV and was wondering if there is better out there.

some of the factory Blued barrels will really teach you a thing or two about how good a copper solvent is.

I can't say that what I am using is better, but it really does a great job on the rougher factory barrels and it is the Montana Extreme 50 BMG.

I used one product that was better than the 50 BMG and that was a product called "Copper Melt" but it is so expensive that I can't afford to use it because I go through 5 quarts of copper solvent a year.

I use the foaming bore cleaners for most stuff. The only other stuff I use is Slip2000 which is one of the water based super detergents.

I have found that any of the foaming bore cleaners work wonderfully. Put rifle in a rest or use a bipod and spray from breech until it comes out the muzzle. Then let sit with the rear of the rifle elevated so the stuff does not run down into your action. You will see the copper melt into a deep levi jeans blue. Give at least 15 minutes but an hour is better.

Then finish up with Kroil to coat and protect the barrell.

Thanks for listening.

I use Weapon Shield seems to work great it is a improved CLP and after you use the product the bore doesn't seem to get the fouling like before.

Another vote for Wipeout. I've also had good luck with Butch's Bore Shine in nice barrels, but most factory barrels plate out too bad and need a more aggressive solvent. If you get that hard powder fouling in front of the throat that nothing will touch, try some Shooters Choice Black Powder Gel. My swift gets that nasty fouling(probably because of the nasty powder I use) and the black powder gell gets it out in about 3 minutes.

I'm going to check into this Wipeout it sounds like my kind of stuff spray and walkaway then few paches /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif because I hate cleaning my guns but I know it has to be done so I do it.

Wipe-Out foam followed by Weapons Shield CLP. Every 300 rounds or so I use Sweet's to see if I can get any copper the Wipe-Out may have missed.

Bore Tech Eliminator*
*I like to be done cleaning in 1/2 hr!

(I've used Wipe Out, Butch's Bore Shine, Montana Extreme, Shooter Choice and Sweet's - Bore Tech is all I'll use now).

I then run couple patches of Slip 2000 thru (like Furhunter mention).

I then follow up using either Montana Bore Conditioner or Action Friction Block.
