What kind of recoil padding to pattern a shotgun (#4 buck hurts!)

I put a limbsaver on my Mossberg. Much better than the crappy factor pad you get on most shotguns.

Much nicer to shoot it now, and of course when the adrenalin is pumping you don't feel any recoil... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

You must using a pump shotgun like a Rem. 870 or Mossberg in order to worry about recoil.

I have been shooting the #4 BK for at least 12 yrs now and never a problem with recoil with a Beretta 303 auto. But I do know that I will never shoot Slugs or BK in the 870 anymore, in fact I have retired it.

I have used the PACT recoil pad for shooting my 300 Mag years ago, it really tame that rifle down, made it much easier to shoot.

This may sound silly but I pattern my shotguns in the sitting position with nothing behind me. Shooting off a rest is not real fun, IMHO.
The recoil of a 3.5" load pushs back pretty hard while sitting so I just "roll with the punch" and keep falling till I'm flat on my back. Doing so takes a good bit away from felt recoil.

And a Limbsaver recoil pad helps too!
