What percentage of the coyotes you shoot with a rifle live longer than 3 seconds?

I drilled one offhand last Winter with a 55gr. Softpoint right in the shoulder. I know it was a heart shot,it got to his feet and ran 25-35 yards before piling up. Hitting them through the ribs into the lungs has had the same affect many times. They normally don't make it past 50 yards even hit with a small cartridge like the .17hmr or .17wsm. If they're lung shot they run out of gas pretty quick in my experience.

Maybe I've just been lucky in that aspect but I've never lung shot one and not recovered it to the best of my memory.

I managed to shoot ten on my last trip to USA got back 2 Oct 2019.
Nine were shoot with rifle 22 250 using superformance rounds none got up just went straight down dead.
Longest shots were 367 yards (double) and these were both neck shot had one at 7 yards with 12 gauge and it was dead(of course) I do tend to try to get them close and most are shot below 100 yards.
Can not wait for next trip now....
 
I would say 90% of my rifle kills have been quick, with a few rolling or kicking for a few seconds. Can't remember firing a second shot though a few have been finished with a handgun. Only rifles I use calling are a Sako 222 or my Marlin 357, and all shots are well within 60yds or so. I'm mostly a shotgunner and most are crushed, but those few that are not often seem to need multiple shots or a tracking job. We are restricted on shot size, and can't use 4 buck.
