What powder for your 223s

(y) (y) That H 335 load has turned out to be the most accurate in several different rifles for me w/no signs of pressure. I suspect that some of the reputation for temperature sensitivity could be the results of exposing ammo to extreme temperatures such as direct sunlight and/or sitting on the dashboard of a closed cab in mid-summer. Always prudent to be aware of all possibilities, though and different rifles can produce different results.
A good example of that: I had two Pre-64 Win. 30-06 match rifles, both had been rebarreled at least once by the same barrel maker/gunsmith over the years. One of those barrels would result in sticky extraction with a pet load I had used in many rifles/barrels over a number of years. Had to drop load for that particular rifle a full grain to keep pressures between the ditches.

For accuracy and velocity alone I would recommend Benchmark, but in today's market given the added price point, I would go with Xterminator. I'm shooting 50 gr. bullets so if you're going heavier than 52's, some other powder might work a little better. I shoot it in 223 almost exclusively now although I have several other powders that would do a great job, H335, H322, IMR 8208, H4895, IMR 4198, W748. Any of them will do well, but I'm shooting Xterminator. Accurate, Fast, and Cheaper!

AA 2230 Ive been buying 8lbs per purchase for 25 years of this powder
Meters with perfection accurately
Velocity and accuracy are Top Notch ....never had a reason to look further

In the 5.56mm / .223 I'll echo H335

except for the heavies (75grs +) ... then CFE223 and IMR 8208XBR with preference to the latter

In the past when I was in extremely hot environments and needed a little more velocity yeah been known to lay the rounds out on the tactical vehicle or firing position for a bit. To get a bit of little extra. But stored properly never noticed a sensitivity with a majority of powders. Age is a different matter though when not properly stored.

Have some 223 I want to load up and have some 52gr Sierra BTHPs also
I was getting ready to work on loads but I'm limited right now with powders I have.
I have some Varget and tried it. But it takes up a lot of case volume with a compressed load which I don't know if I care too much for.
Most poiwder I Have is extruded. So I am assuming I need to get something like a ball powder like CFE 223.
It's been about 6 months but I bought 8lbs of Midwest 415 says it's like 335 shoots real good the price was right $239 8lbs from American reloading they get more powder around months they always seemed to be out, just keep checking it will be there so I bought another 8lbs.
