What primer for ball powders in the .223?

hello, on a side note i looked for small rifle mag primers at two different gun shops sunday all they had was large magnum, i checked cabelas & cci only offered them with a $20 hazardous material fee added on top of shipping seems kind of pricey if the regular primers work ok. as mentioned i only shot 5 at 20 above worked ok for me but who knows at zero or below maybe something to consider for extreme cold areas.if i find some on a shelf somewhere i might try them.

I use CCI 400 small rifle primers and WW WSR with WW748 in my AR with no problems so far, I am not for sure but if your load density is sufficient even the ball powders should ignite well with a regular small primer.

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

DAVE ALLEN.... I can share the pain with you on the cost issue. I usually only buy CCI Match primers which are costing me over $30 per 1000. As indicated earlier about trying some Magnum primers for the H380, they were real high priced as well.....bottom line is, I have a can of H380 for sale or trade locally. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
