What release agent for Marine Tex?

Not sure about "best", but I use Neutral Kiwi shoe polish for all of mine. I put on 2 coats and then lightly buff it. When done with the bedding job I leave it on the action to help fend a little moisture.

Johnson's past wax works well and you can get several different release agents from Brownell's including a spray on type. Like Tex says Kiwi works well also.

We have been using Brownell's Acra-Release. Great stuff. Works every time. No buffing or having to put 4 or 5 coats on, just a couple of quick spray on coats and you're done. It's kinda spendy at $30 bucks a can, but it would last a lifetime. Maybe get a friend or two to share.

Johnson Furniture paste wax. One can will last the rest of your life. Even owl poop won't stick to the stuff. just rub it with your fingers and let it go.

I like that stuff too. But, seeing as how I am on my fourth can of it in less than 10 years, I can't quite agree with how long it lasts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif. One can WILL last quite a few bedding jobs though, no doubt about that.

all this sounds great- I also use the wax seal that you can buy at academy for snow sealing boots.

I like Marine Tex, I also take a small piece of Al and file on it to make AL dust and then mix into the MT when bedding. I know you did not ask, but mix enough to bed the action up to an inch forward of the lug. And a good reason to buy a drimmel tool! If you need any tips- ask and the pros will all give input! Fun work. JHG

ditto

I have used Brownell's Accra Release on many, many rifles. Spray it on, wash it off with Brake Cleaner.

Johnson's paste wax is idiot proof also, just a little more work.

I have stuck a stock using pam cooking spray. I ended up breaking the forearm off a new 700 BDL.

I used to use Pam a long time ago, but I also came dammn close to sticking one - it took nearly an hour with a heat gun to get the action out of the stock.

Now I use the Brownell's spray exclusively.

But Dave you gotta admit, your crazy when it comes to new guns! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Most of us just can't buy our new guns in packs of 12! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Really, I think my buddy and I have done about 6 or 8 guns on the last can we got and it still has a lot left.

A friend who has even way more rifles than I do, likes to say that we are simply "focused". Not crazy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif .

Best release agent you can buy is Synlube 1000 by Hyperlast. Bought a Holland laminated stock and Marine Tex and Synlube 1000 came with it. Synlube comes in a 10.5 aresol can, just lightly spray it on, you can rub it in a little with your finger or not. No buildup in corners, works like a charm. If you ever used it you'd never use any of that other stuff.
