What Rifle Support Do You Use - Tripod, Shooting Sticks etc...

I use a tripod to shoot from, but I can see where an alternative could also be very useful. I try to set up so I can use a folding chair due to a replaced knee, but if needed, I can stand for awhile as well

What are you using?

I use a tripod only at night, from standing position. Which is how I do my night calling. Daytime I am always sitting and use sticks.

I can see where a tripod would be very good standing; would work well on stand. My back doesn't allow me to stand for more than a couple of minutes and I have to move around or sit, so not a good option for me.

I hunt daytime only nowadays and can't see how a tripod would work sitting down in short chair. I use sticks as they can be re-positioned side to side quickly when needed, even in tall grass.

Chair is short enough to get elbows on thighs for a very stable position.

hm

I use sticks like hm. Ive tried a tripod but the country I hunt demands being able to able to shoot pretty much in a 360 degree circle around me with little time to adjust...

There are some stands where I need to stand to see and I'm thinking about trying a tripod again only using it to balance the rifle and not clamp it down tight.

If I were hunting just open country where you have time to change or can shoot.them before they leave your shooting lane a tripod would work well.

Tripod for standing up at night time.

I have a Harris bipod on every bolt action rifle that lets me shoot prone and all of them but 2 are the S25 version which I can use for sitting shots also. They also double as a sort of kick stand when I need to set my rifle down and keep me from having to lay it over or propping against a tree or fence post.

I also carry Bog Pod shooting sticks for day hunting. Basically a taller bipod not fixed to the rifle. I like them when using a chair or stool and they’re easier to pan left/right to stay on a moving target vs the bipods. They also double as a decent walking stick when extended out and strapped together.

I love my tripod. I use it with a light chair at night to get above clutter and it’s very steady. I watch the vids with guys standing and to me they’re wobbling all over. Daytime use the turkey lounger type with the backrest, (gotta have the backrest)with sticks or tripod depending how far I’m going. Gonna try to use my bipod more this year but having to adjust them every stand is a hassle. Can’t do prone , too hard on my back and usually too low.

I carry a lightweight chair and use the Primos Trigger Stick monopod. It works better than nothing but I'm considering an upgrade to a bipod, sticks or something.

I have used all sorts of different sticks and bipods. My favorite is the Primos rapid pivot bipod, I like being able to attach and reattach it.

Tried the swagger hunter 42, it was pretty good but went back to the Primos.

Night time I used a much bigger tripod, recently upgraded and it is much heavier but way more solid than what I had before. Day time sitting down though I think sticks or bipod are the way to go.

Either a set of shooting sticks (gorrilla sticks) or a tripod (Slick 700 or nightsnipe elite hunter)

I do a lot of hiking where I'm at, I carry on my pack a small folding stool, Primos trigger bipod (short) to support my Ruger mini-14. I don't carry the bipod if I'm using the shotgun though.

I use a simple pair of dowel rods, and a couple of pieces of leather, that covers my ground set up. Also, I have a single adjustable walking stick that I use to help me maneuver through the timber. I like the single walking stick as it is adjustable for height and serves two purposes, preforms very well when I need to position myself on the side
of a ridge or in a down timber etc., plus on those slippery days, helps break the falls!!

Primos Trigger sticks, short and tall according to seat height or standing. I hunt where there is lots of brush and rock, and I like that I can leave sticks standing where they are and swing to sides to take shot if needed without them falling over. And I have been using “Walking Stool” that’s made in Sweden but sold from a few dealers in US and it’s a Great stool!! But it is expensive.
