What should I try in a 1 in 14 twist 22-250

I just picked up a Remington model 7 predator with a 22" 1 in 14 twist barrel. I got it zeroed and broke in with some partial boxes of factory stuff I had around, but nothing shot good enough to stick with. So far the shorter SP bullets in 55 grain seem to be better than the 50 or 55gr V max ammo I had on hand. It's hard to tell much when I was cleaning every few rounds though.

I'm looking to start loading for it tomorrow and these are the bullets I have on hand.

40gr Ballistic Tip
50gr Ballistic Tip
52gr Sierra Matchking
55gr Sierra soft point boat tail

Everything else I have on hand is 60gr or heavier. Where would you start? It will be used on coyotes primarily but I don't want to explode a bobcat if one comes in. Thanks for your help.

Nosler's Ballistic Tips always seem to shoot really well and they're generally not all that seating depth sensitive so finding a load that works well with the BT's is typically not all that difficult.

I'd give the Nosler 50gr BT's a go first.

I would go 50gr. Speer TNT with Benchmark, IMR 4064 or H322. Any of those should shoot. If i had to narrow it down to only one i would go IMR 4064. Oh yeah, stick with Fed GM Primers

55 grain Sierra Gameking.

That 40 might be okay if you want to save a cat but a 22-250 may get pretty rough on them regardless of bullet used.

My 223 Contender barrel is a 14 twist and I shoot Sierra 52gr matchking and 52gr. Nosler custon competitions with H 322 powder and it is real accurate.

My 1 in 14, 22" bolt gun shoots 40 to 52gr boat tail bullets fairly well but usually does noticeably better with flat based bullets. I have yet to find a 55gr load, BT or FB that I am happy with. Happy for me is .75 MOA or better. The Sierra 63gr SMP, however, is really good in my barrel. IMR 4064 has also been a hard to beat powder in my rifle for the last 35 plus years.

36.5-37.5g of varget with a cci 200, 55g sierra or 55g nosler ballistic tip will make you very happy....3650-3700 depending on the barrel.

IMR 4064 is also great with a fed 210, 35+g with a 55.

I shoot the Sierra 55g HPBT (#1390) in my 220 Swift and worked up a load using the same bullet for my friends 22-250. I use IMR 4064 and all I can tell you is when something works, keep doing it. This is a great bullet for the 1:14 twist Swifts and 22-250's.
Since you already have the Sierra 55 gr SP, I would work that up for sure. I have shot the Nosler 40gr BT out of my Swift but it is not my "go to" bullet for sure.

I shoot 55gr Hornady Spire Points out of a Rem. 788 22-250, which I think is 1-14 twist, it is extremely accurate.
My go to load is 36.0 gr. of IMR-4064 with a CCI-200 primer.
I noticed the same as Mort98, 52/53gr BT bullets had acceptable accuracy but weren't as accurate as the flat base Hornady Spire Points out of mine.

I have an older Win. model 7, it's not a tack driver, but I'm working on it.
The best groups I have found came from 40 gr Vmax and 36.7 gr. of Alliant Varmint.
55 gr. Varmint Nitemares from Midsouth, and 33.6 gr. of Alliant Varmint.
60 grain Hornady HP and 42.5 gr. of Superformance.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I need to try them all and see what it likes!

I will probably try the 52 and 55gr Sierra's first since I have a pile of them. I have a box of each from the store and several pounds of seconds in each.

Of the ones you listed.....I would start with the 50 NBT (my favorite coyote bullet). One you didn't list, that's worth a look is the 52 grain Nosler Custom Competition.

In my Rem 700 1 in 14 I've ran the Hornady 52 gr amax/eldm for quite awhile and before that the 52 Sierra matchking. Originally with H4895 but for the last few years switched to ARCOMP due to a marked improvement in velocity while maintaing accuracy.
