What to use on dogs feet to promote healing and toughin it up

our one hound is now done for the season because he pretty much wore the pads off his feet today running. The snow isn't overly hard, he's just a heavy dog and runs like crazy through and over everything and he was bleeding like a stuck pig. The other 3 dogs were fine, little cuts like usual but nothing like the one dog. Poor guy, he's going to be severally pissed now when we load his buds up but gotta leave him at home.

what does everyone use on dogs feet to help them heal faster? I really don't want to have to retire him for the season but it's gotta happen. He was still hard as [beeep] to catch today, doesn't seem to bother him but its just cruel to let him run like that.

we had a old male like that...blue coated them and laid him up..not recomending this but the blue kote kept him from biting at them while kenneled..and he healed faster...also rub utter cream into them..it works wonders....and ...let him off the tailgate slowly for awhile...

forgot rub the utter ointment on first..then about 6 hours later a lite coat of the blue kote...

I had a english dog years ago that had real bad feet and the best thing I found for him was Kopertox. Hope that helps.

Yea, some dogs just have weak feet, about the best thing you can do is road the dogs before the season on hard ground to toughen them up. Mike

Had our good hound get a cut between his toes. He always has soft feet. Got a set of Ulta Paws booties and tried them this weekend. Worked great. Hound did not even try to chew them off, he was just happy to get back into the game
