What was your fist call you killed a predator with?

ps olt green closed reed call. it was my dad's. Called in a double and shot the male with my .270 ruger markII, the rifle was also my dad's which eventually became my rifle.

mine was a closed reed circe cottontail almost exactly 20 years ago. It also was my best stand to date. Had 4 run in right at the minue and a half mark. I was armed with a compund bow although I didnt kill one, I did get a shot and probably took some hair off of him.

First call/kill was my own imitation of a dying rabbit using just my voice. First day of deer season - in my stand - a pack of coyotes sound off within 200 yrds. To my surprise - it worked. 3 came in hot within 5 minutes. Ended up pop'n one with my .270 - Only negative was I had a sore throat for the next 3 days. 2 lessons learned - "necessity is the mother of invention" and ALWAYS HAVE A MOUTH CALL IN YOUR PACK!

A Mallardtone Predator call 40 years ago. They built Duck,Crow,Goose, and Predator calls that won many state and national titles back then.

It sure was/is. After getting away from calling for a few years, I took my youngest son (Verminator2) out with me. He was ten at the time. The very first stand we had a triple come in within three minutes. He killed his first coyote, a nice male, and I got lucky and connected on a female as she whirled to run. Needless to say, he's now hooked on coyote calling too and has become my primary hunting partner.

I've been thinking of getting that old Weems back out and using it again. I think I'll just do that.

First dog fell for a Crit-R-Call. There was a hawk fluttering over a tuft of grass and the coyote ran right past me to see what the hawk was doing. The coyote jumped on the grass but, didn't come up with anything. Then I dumped him. I guess that hawk was mey first decoy to.

Called in my first coyote with an old Lohman "Long Range" jackrabbit call, on my second stand, back in '95.
I hate that call, though. And retired it shortly thereafter, in favor of a Circe tri-tone. (which has also been retired)

primos squirrel buster...was the day after christmas got the call..hit it..and 10 minutes later wiley was coming up the creek bottom....second and a few more was with a single reed turkey call letting out one loud rabbit sceam and waiting...
