Something else I know not much about. I would like to set one up to run 195 VLDS....hm now the wheels are turning. Im off to do some research.
With xyz barrel length, I want the 195 Hybrid to have a impact velocity of what?
What would be your answer?
I see a build as tool to fill a gap or meet a need.
I decide the performance I want with said barrel length and bullet, then I choose the cartridge that will either meet or exceed that.
Now you get to do homework to figure out what cartridge(s) meet your design goals for the action length you want.
I know the SAUM kills to 6 just fine for elk, but not sure I would use the 195 as my ideal bullet choice in a SA/7 SAUM.
Maybe it would work great...I don't know
In a LA you more options.
If weight with a LA is an issue, think Proof Research Carbon barrels.
