Well Noel you inspired me to check my scales. I felt that the cat may have gone a little more than the scale said also. I tied a string around a 35 pound weight and lifted it with the scale. The results of the test are:

Drum roll please, tap tap tap tap tap tap bang /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif(sorry not a drummer)

35 pounds on the nose. Stupid scales! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gifI have to check the one in my bathroom now, I know it lies. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Take care,

Todd

Dang, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif my calibrated bicep would have swore it was a little heavier. I think that cold night air may have densified that spring into some inaccurate state. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
Thats my theory. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif You did duplicate the atmospheric conditions of that night for your test, right?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
When you guys release Vol II everyone can check out that cat before he became a wall hanger. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Soon right?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I knew I should have stood on his feet! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Yes, I conducted the test standing in my chest freezer so it was 33.4 degrees(with the lid open). I am sure it will amuse everyone that this is a chest freezer that I bought for my wife. The other day she asked what was in the trash bags in the bottom, then she caught herself and said nevermind and walked away. I never said a word. The Bobcat and Red Fox are still safe.

Volume II is on the way right now. They say the arrival date will be the 29th. We will see how that goes, with our luck lately you can never tell. If all goes well we will be sending out copies to the people we hunted with soon. Were you in the video Noel? I cant remember! I will keep you informed.

Hey nefj40 what part of the state are you from, I was wonderin if there's bobcats up here in the northeastern part I think it would be a great accomplishment to get one of these beatiful animals.

About 10 years ago I stopped in Basset to get gas, and the local warden was talking to the cashier about the cats he'd just checked in. That's about the same time we started getting the cats around here. They may not be as thick as down here, but they are there. I know it's a hard thing to do, but try to get some permission around Long Pine...stay more in the timber, and stay on stand longer.

I've killed some pretty good sized cats the last couple of years. They ought to be fat with all the rats around. An all you can eat buffet. Here's a couple of pics with some of the big boys.
