I have a Bushnell Trophy ($169 ??) and a Tasco 3.0mp($50 ?) on a closeout. Both take decent enough pictures that I can tell what critters are using my baits either day or night. Depending on how much you're going to use it and what options you "think" you'll need you might want to consider buying one or two cheaper cameras.

ok so i'm in the process of making a deer plot. its about 50X80 along side a woods.

i'm interesred to see if i can get some deer out there.

i see they have deer plot cameras. would i be better off getting a deer plot camera vs a standard moting trail camera?

i can get this on ebay for around $80...Moultrie Plot Stalker

Go with a trail camera. Most have the option of setting it at 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minute and 30 minute resets. I personaly have 3 cuddebacks that are great but a little pricey. I got a friend that bought some 69 dollar cameras at walmart and they produce decent pictures.....again, go with a trail camera cause you might want to use it somewhere else other them your food plot one day,

Have you been to these sites? Good reviews.

chasingame.com
trailcameras.com

Also a google search on the camera your interested in yields good info.

i went with a moultrie d50. it was 69.99 at cabelas and i figure i'd give it a try.

the guy working was recommending the bushnell 8.0 for $179.99

i figure i'd go cheap??? should i have sent the extra hundred i'm wondering?

I had poor luck with the D-50 and the D-40s. The D-55 on the other hands is the best camera by far I have tried so far.

The D-40 and D-50 both took good pictures, but the flash ended up going out and while still taking day time pictures, the night time were just black.

Both the D40 and D50 used 6 D batteries. Battery life was about a month depending on how many pictures it took.

The D-55 is a smaller camera that runs on 6C batteries. It has yet to fail, and will take pictures for several months on a set of batteries.

I checked it last week and it had filled the sd card in 3 weeks (1302 pictures) and was still at 73% battery.

I have a Primos Truth 35 that is still in the package. Will have to see how it does.

The Wildgame Innovations IR4 did't last a week and just quit.

Maybe do some research and go with a used model from Ebay.I have four moultries. And would not hesitate on a I40 for the right price.Should do every thing you ask about. They are older design (big) the range of the sensor is alittle shorter (35')battery life is tops.Price range should be in line.Pictures are great. Check out the reviews at chasingame.com. They have done some pretty extensive testing on virtually every camera out there and can point out the good and bad of each.

I have a few cuddebacks, the camo version of the bushnell trophy cam, a primos truth 35 and two scoutguard cameras. Each of those are pretty dang good but out of the bunch I prefer the cuddeback and scoutguard. The bushnell is a nice compact camera but there is something screwed up with the exposure time and way too many of the night time pictures are so blurry you can't make much out.

Long story short is that most of the $200+/- cameras out there are pretty good nowadays and cuddeback (who is still my favorite) is loosing its top place in the market. Just my opinion...

everyone i talk to says bushnell make a good camera. i've read about the blurry pictures and not sure i want that head ake [beeep].
