AS STATED ABOVE. I JUST ORDERED A NEW FRONTIER ARMS POLY LOWER. IT SHOULD BE IN TOMORROW. LOOKING FOR A GOOD LIGHT WEIGHT 16" BARREL THAT WONT BREAK THE BANK. THIS IS MY FIRST AR. LOOKING TO GET 556 SO I CAN SHOOT 223 AS WELL. THANKS
 
Midway USA has DPMS stripped uppers in their November flyer. Both the A3 and the Sportical upper. $110 for the A3 and $77 for the Sportical. kwg
 
Welcome to the forum, but stop yelling (caps lock). Midway has complete DPMS 16" lw uppers for the $370ish range.
 
I have had good luck with Red X arms, and am waiting on a SOTA blkout upper. Both offer nice components for a reasonable price. My stainless blkout was $439 with free shipping. Good luck in your quest. I really like the challenge of putting together a budget build.

PK Firearms has more in-stock uppers at real reasonable prices than I have found in the ten years messing with the ar15 platform
 
I recently bought a DPMS Lo-Pro with 16" bull barrel from midway for aroud $379. It might be a little heavier than what your wanting but it pinned to my NFA Lower like they were meant for each other. With less than 100 rounds down the tube we were consistantly hitting hedge apples at 300 yards with it on Sunday. Im sure the more rounds down range the better it will get too.
 
Model One Sales has decent prices, and you get to shoose the options you want from the pull-down list.

The price is without a charging handle and bolt/carrier group, make sure you add that onto the order.
 
You can't go wrong with a DPMS Oracle, Sportacle or LoPro from Midway $ 360 to 375. Looks like they have stock & they all get good reviews. I started out with a 16" SS lowpro it was on the heavy side - but a great shooter, cycled any and all ammo including steel case. Beware of the DPMS haters!

I have a NFA lower too, I've run it with three of my uppers to see how reliable it would be, ran fine with every one. I think if you end up with the DPMS heavy barrel lopro upper, once you add optics, it will be front heavy when paired with the NFA. The Oracle would ultimatly be my choice for the best bang for your buck.

+1 on Model 1. Have purchased uppers and complete kits from them in the past and have not had any issues. Also check M&A parts. If it's on their site it's in their inventory.

But please don't forget JoeBob's or NFA directly as they have some great quality complete uppers. And what's better than your upper matching your lower?

Thanks to all that have responded has anyone ever used the nfa uppers, if so any issues. Also probably a dumb question but i have seen 556 and 556x45 is there a difference? I just wanna be able to shoot both 223 and 556. Thanks
 
I got a Palmettostatearmory upper last week for 269, this didn't include the BCG or charging handle though.

I picked up a DPMS Sporticle complete upper in the classifieds and couldn't be more pleased with the (lack of) weight. Got it south of $375.....with bolt carrier group and charging handle.

5.56 and .223 are not the same. Case dimensions for both are identical and caliber is identical. The difference lies in the angle and length of the leade and a longer freebore of the 5.56 chamber. This enables 5.56 ammunition to be loaded to a higher pressure and velocitiy than the .223 which has a SAAMI max pressure of 55K PSI.

.223 ammuntion with it's lower pressure/velocity can be safely fired all day long in a 5.56 chamber. 5.56 ammunition like Federal XM193 should not be fired in .223 chambers. 5.56 ammunition may safely be fired in 5.56 or .223 Wylde chambers only.

An easy way to describe the difference is to compare the chamber differences to a speed bump. It takes more energy to overcome the resistance of a speed bump if you stop at it's base before driving over it than it does if your vehicle is already in motion. The 5.56 chamber with it's shallower leade and longer freebore allows the bullet time to gain momentum and velocity before encountering the rifling. This is why 5.56 ammunition can be safely loaded to a higher pressure and velocity(ie.more powder).
