Ah, to be in an area where they respond in the daylight hoursNever carried any kind of bag. Caller, seat, shooting sticks in my left hand. Rifle slung on my right shoulder. Few rounds of ammo and a coyote drag in my pants pocket. That's it.

Oh no... I listed TP in my initial (nighttime) post. I learned in my youth hunting days that it is essential gear in the survival gear kit. Returning to the vehicle, hunting camp or home with a section of thermal under garment cut out, or one sock missing is a clue that there might be better options!One thing absent from these lists that is essential. Toilet paper!
Another advantage of muzzle down. Muzzle up tends to slip off shoulder.and my hands are free.
