What's it worth? Winchester lever action 32/40 rifle!

I’m 89996 serial # and just had mine appraised @ $ 1,400 and mine is in very nice shape , I feel he’s low balling me cuz I’ve seen sites where they have them for sale and in worse shape than mine , anywhere from $1,250 to $2,995

I truly believe a lot of times we ask, "what's it worth", we get low ball numbers because people will offer it up for sale at the values we give them. Everyone likes a good deal. I'm guilty sometimes. LOL

I looked at a few Rossi rifles in a local gun store. Prices are WOW!! But I did some research and reviews are very good these days. Seems as though Rossi has upped their quality. I don't care much for the safety on top of the rifle that much but the ones I handled seem to be very nice rifles.

I did the same, and felt exactly the same way. I'm probably gonna spring for one in 357 sooner or later. The safety will be easy enough to ignore.

An old gunsmith taught me back in the 70's to take 30/30 brass and run it through the 32/40 dies to taper the neck. The casing is a tiny bit shorter than the 32/40 brass but loads out and shoots fine. I have fired many of these rounds through my 1896 rifle. The 1896 can use black powder and it is the first year to also use smokeless powder.
