What's up with Nevada?

Hey Y'all, first time actually posting on here but I've enjoyed all the information available on here. I did a trip through Nevada in October starting in the pioche area, ending all the way up in Jackpot. We ended up driving over 1200 miles of Nevada terrain, a bunch of it after dark and never saw a SINGLE road dog. Over the three days of calling we were there we ended up only calling in 4. I also mention I only recall seeing 2 rabbits during the trip. Is everyone else seeing similar results?

I'm a long was south but rabbit numbers have been almost nill for years now. To many years of hard drought would be my guess.
Can't say as to the coyotes.

I was there earlier and we killed close to 40 in about 6 days/nights of hunting and called several fox, bobcats and a lion. My experience this year was with all the water its allowed animals to flourish!

I usually spend a couple months in Mesquite, NV in the winter. Doing that for about 5 years. I've noticed rabbit numbers decline to almost nothing. Same thing in northern AZ. The AZ Game And Fish decreased the daily limit on jackrabbits from unlimited to 2 this year. Coyotes have also been hard for me to find. I think the drought has impacted everything. The abundant precip last winter is helping, but its gonna take awhile for critters to rebound.

wow that sounds awesome. Were you doing a bunch of night calling?

Both night and day and covered about 4-5 different counties.

At night its pretty easy to "inventory" whats around you, I was shocked at how much more kangaroo rats and rabbits (both jacks and cottontails) I saw versus last year at the same time. Water was everywhere, the vegetation was way greener. We actually had a few times where we was literally eaten alive by mosquitoes, pretty wild when you are standing in the middle of the desert and nowhere near a river or lake!!

My friends that live there hunted one of the big tournaments there last Saturday, top three teams all killed 14 in 24 hours so they are around, just gotta put the work in and find them.
