Interesting choice of calibers. Good choice on the rifles though. Why did you choose the 250-3000. My dad has a 99 takedown in 250.

One rifle has a Leupold mark 2 3-9, LRD reticle.
Another has a Leupold vari X3 2.5-8, duplex reticle.
I have a EOTech 512 on another.

Dust

I call out on the Olympic penninsula and the cover is very heavy (rainforests). There is a very good chance that I could call a bear or big cat and I feel more comfortable with the 250. I keep it loaded with 75gr "X" bullets. The rifle started out as a 22-250 but I have other 224's that shot better.

I also have a Savage 99 TD in 250-3000, great rifles.

Bushnell Banner 4-12x40AO, 1 inch tube. If you havent been answered Yet about 4 power being too much, Mine is on 5 power while hunting and thats where it stays. I got used to seeing 5 power out walkin up jackrabbits for years with my 10/22.

Allstar, is the 4 too much to start with? COnsidering a 2-7, 3-9, or 4-12, or something in that range. Want to know how low to go.

I hunt mostly open fields and lanes through the timber. I've never wished for lower power but saying that, I've never owned a scope lower than 3X.

Both of my calling guns have Leupold VX-III 3.5x10x40 with the Boone and crocket reticle. The reticle isnt really needed for a calling but for the freebies that run out when driving make it nice. Also both of my guns do double duty for rock chucks and prarie dogs and thats the cats meow.

I have 5 of these scopes. I like them and I am looking to try a Burris BP with a 50mm Objective.
