I'm looking at getting either a new blackpowder rifle or a handgun for trapping. Not sure which way I'll end up going but I want to hear what you think is the perfect trapping gun. I'm just getting my feet wet this year with trapping. It won't be seeing all kinds of abuse as I won't be running a long line. I'll be trying for coon and of course the predators that have me fascinated.
I like the option of swapping the cylinder on a single six and having the option of .22LR or mag but it seems to be a little bigger than I would like. Browsing around at Cabelas the other day I saw a Ruger Bearcat Shopkeeper and man did that catch my eye. I like it!
I've always been a semi-auto handgun guy but could go either way for this gun. It wouldn't hurt to have a revolver and somehow it just seems to fit trapping a little better than a semi auto.
Whatever I bought would end up doing double duty as a plinker for the kids and I to have fun with.
