Where are all the big name callers at

It is not just this board that is slow. It is all hunting boards. The duck hunting board I used to go to has almost ZERO new posts.

I think people don't want to encourage other people to get out and hunt because it just means more competition.

I will never have social media. I loathe Facebook.
 
No doubt our old software was a big issue. It stopped being supported years ago so there was nothing we could do to bring it up to date.

In the meantime, the world passed it by. Smart phones & tablets, social media sites, vastly increased use of media (pictures & video). That software was just horrible for all of that.

The problem was that we really didn't want to lose our history & start from scratch & there wasn't a good (meaning affordable) way to get that data migrated. We've tried & failed in the past, we've been trying to find a way to make this happen for a good many years now.

A lot of work went into making this happen & now there's a lot of work to do to figure out how to improve the site in ways we want to but just don't know how yet.
 
I joined this site on March 11 2014. So coming up on ten years now. I joined here because at the time I was 26 years old, newly married, new career, and frankly just beginning to establish the life I now love and cherish. That meant I had very little time to get out and hunt so the few times I was able to, I was unsuccessful at best. I got tired of my trips out into the field coming up blank and the puzzled fealing on the way home. That lead me to this site. I came here thirsting for knowledge and to learn how to hunt coyotes and be successful. I spent hours on here reading and soaking in any bit of information I could.

Back then I was lucky to get one or two coyotes a year. Since then, I have changed the way I go about hunting these elusive critters. All changes that were inspired by the posts and pictures off of here. I am still busy in life, and I only get out about 8-10 trips a year, but I kill around 20 coyotes a year on average. To some that is not very many, to others and the ten years ago me, that seems like a lot.

Long story short, when I look back to when I first joined here and compare myself as a coyote hunter today, I can say there is a huge difference. I have learned so much from this site that has really helped to speed up the learning curve of hunting coyotes. To me the best way to pay it forward is to post on here for the guys like me ten years ago. Every time I go hunting, I make it a point to take pictures and mental notes throughout the day. I do this to both continue to learn and to also post on here to help someone else learn.

Perhaps we could all take a moment to look back to when we first started hunting coyotes. Think about the things we have learned from time in the field, time with a mentor or time spent scrolling this site.

More important than anything we should stop to remember one thing we all have in common on here. Whether you,re a youtube sensation, sponsored by a big name hunting brand, contest winner, weekend warrior or east, west and inbetween. We all have a passion for coyote hunting and that is what brings us all here.

Whether your post gets 1 comment or 100 I can guarantee it inspires someone and that should be enough to keep us all posting and commenting for the better of each other, this site and the game of hunting coyotes.
 
Good to hear from you, Al. I have met Al at several of the PM hunts over the years and I can say he was always approachable and friendly.

Byron South and the Dillons equally so and got to hunt with them there and here in Texas a time or two.
 
You don’t have to be a BIG name to kill a lot of Coyotes!!

I dream for months over the summer just waiting for the next chance to hunt Coyotes, I usually start mid to late October when the snakes and bugs are gone.

My partner and I are at 56 dead Coyotes, I stay home the first weekend of every month October thru March, it is an agreement I have with my girlfriend. I get to hunt the remaining weekends.

I am guilty and I need to post more about our experiences.

Big kill numbers equals more coyote populations which equates to more called and killed coyotes. Every area holds a different amount and most areas gets their fair share of coyotes being educated. Coyotes seem to have an On and off switch as well. We know there are coyotes in the area, they don’t always respond.

Anyhow, keep after them, it beats a day in the office!!
 
My impression after listening to a few of the big names mention this forum is that politics became an issue here, and too many guys were getting their panties in a bunch when the experienced guys weren't nice about how they replied to questions. Given the amount of soft men in society these days that wouldn't surprise me one bit. That being said, I'm new to this forum and cannot speak to any of this from personal experience.
 
I was thinking of how to answer that question. So many of the top producers that were here left I believe because of politics and heavy handed egotist mods. Some of the guys just moved on maybe to Bass fishing or just life itself. There are guys like DAA, Skinney, Cal T, and others I can't name all that have or had produced high numbers but don't brag, some even won Competitions. I know of a few that I would guess easily produced higher numbers than some of the TV guys. A few here even took (guided) the TV guys so they could get some coyotes on film.

I would love to see some of those guys share their wisdom here, but that may be like asking a tournament fisherman to tell you his hot spots or secrets. I remember the older days of The Coyote Gods, Shadetree, even here when I had a different handle. Too many were wrongly booted off and obviously had bad feelings for it.

Several people often complained about so many post of custom hand calls for sale dominating the forum. Can't please everyone I guess.

It was easier 20-30 years ago when not everyone had a Foxpro and played Lightning Jack, educating coyotes. LOL :)

I started a forum for AR15 shooters to shoot 2 10 shot groups, just for fun. It kind of died out, maybe try again this spring.

I just hope to God this place doesn't follow 24hr campfire with all the personal bickering, insults, and name calling that goes on over there.
