Where can I get some 6-204 dies?

1. Redding 204 Ruger Type S FL Bushing die you will need to swap out the guts for for one from a 223 as the shaft for the expander ball is to small for the 6mm expander ball, order a tapered 6mm expander ball and order appropriate bushing. A call to Redding CS will help you with this swap. You might have to open the die slightly to clear the neck of the 6mm-204. I did this working from the top of the die with a tapered diamond grinding bit in my dremel, work from the top of the die so there is no chance of hitting the sizing part of the die. I did this and load 22-204, 6mm-204 and 25-204 with the same die by changing out bushings and expander balls.

2. Order a custom die from Hornady or C&H4D to your specs. I had Hornady make my first 25-204 FL die because Redding hadn't made the Type S die for the 204 yet.

PM if you want a couple of formed cases 6mm-204 cases to play with.

If you are thinking about this for a CZ527 you might not have enough mag length to load any long or tipped bullets.

AWS,

I won't have to build the rifle. I bought it completed. It's a model seven 1:12 24". I'll probably cut it to 22 with no other changes.

I'm not much on tinkering with dies, so I'll likely just get them from Hornady.

Thanks.

I think I have a universal 6mm seater. It's a Forster. Should be as simple as buying the sizing die.

What bushings are you using with What brass?

Swapping bushings and expanders is simple. Go with Forster or Redding and be done. And it will be a better product that the Hornady.

This "tinkering" is literally unscrewing one piece and swapping. No harder than adjusting dies.

Do you have any fired brass or loaded rounds at all?

Nope. It didn't come with anything at all.

I'm not worried about setting up the dies, but rather having to buy several bushing to figure out what I need. I don't suppose it will kill me though.

When I get back today I will year apart my die and give you the bushing size and I will give you OD's on loaded rounds with various brass, I think I have loaded rounds in Win, Rem and Hornady brass.

Someone didn't read the post it is a 6-204(6mm-204).

As far as Hornady's custom dies my 25204 die works perfectly and will size oup 204's to .257 in a single pass, when using Redding dies I have to go to 6mm first then to .257 or I crush brass or split necks. The Hornady seaters are superb, you have to get into a competition seater to match or better it and they are only $20. compared to $50. to $150. for a competition seating dies from other manufactures.

I'm using a .263 bushing and loaded rounds with 55gr Blitzkings and 62gr VG' have neck OD's of .265-.2655 with some bulk 65gr Match bullets(I believe they are Bergers)the OD's are .266-.2665 Both Rem and Win, brass measure the same, I don't have any loaded in Horn. brass.

It is more than just changing expander balls and bushings, you will need to order the whole decapping assembly as the threads on the 204 shaft are smaller than the threads in the 6mm expander ball. Usually you can only go up one caliber in a bushing die without having to open the top of the die to allow the neck of the case to get through to the bushing. Again Redding CS is very helpful with setting this up. Be sure you order a tapered expander ball as the standard won't expand the necks.
