I will be in the market for a 22lr pistol to go along with my Rem 504T when I go squirrel hunting.Ive always liked the Ruger MkII.s and I also like the Browning Buckmark. SO any reccomendations on a accurate 22 lr pistol? I want a pistol that is very accurate. I would even consider scoping it.
THanks Daryl P.

I have the Ruger MK11 with the 10 1/2 bull barrel and it will take the heads of the small gray squirrels clear up in the tops of the pine trees here in Colorado. I shoot golf balls at 20+ yards with it.

Both the ruger and the browning are just about dead even when it comes to accuracy and/or quality. I personally like the browning better because it is pretty close to being a copy of my S&W 41. You will be happy which ever one you choose.

I've owned a Ruger MKII Target with a 10" barrel and a Buckmark Target, (don't remember the barrel length on that but it was about 10" as well)

They both shot great, and I did a lot of squirrel and rabbit hunting with them.

But the Buckmark rusted like mad, it drove me nuts.

I now have a Ruger MKI with about a 5" bull barrel and a set of original Ruger target grips on it. It is easy to carry and still very accurate.

You won't go wrong with any of these.

I have had a ruger MK1 with a 6&7/8" barrel for thirty years. It is wonderfully accurate and dependable as the sunrise. My nephews bought a MK2 and a Buckmark both barrels are around five inches. When comparing them side by side I prefered the Buckmark. I will have to recommend a Buckmark.

For what you said you wanted the Ruger hunter or one of those will fill the bill.Scope it to get the best out of it and you can get a scope holster with a flap and hangs around your neck and arm or take the stow the strap and pack it or attach to outside of pack.No point in packing something if you cant hit with it.If you can shoot irons good enough the hunter has pretty good fiber sights if you like fiber.

I have had 3 MkIII comp and 2 22/45 , most semi are ammo picky and had feeding issue with HP / I don't have that problem any more . LOL

I'm glad someone posted about a revolver! I would love to own a Ruger Single Six in 22Mag or 22LR.

I hunt with my little Walther P22 as a coup de grace for coyote/rabbit hunting. Good enough to get the job done from about 10 - 15 yards. Don't want to get too close to a wounded coyote!

Well the question was about pistols so I go with the Ruger Mark II with the 8" bull barrel. Mine is a tack driver and out to 50 yards definitely hits where I aim. I have dropped canines out to 65 yards with it, but have not tried farther. Yet..

Carrying a rifle and scoped pistol? Pick one or the other, honestly. When I first started buying pistols I carried them because I could. Soon realized that carrying a .22 handgun while hunting with a .22 rifle was redundant and stupid. Also realized the same about carrying my .357 while slug gun hunting deer. I might carry a second gun that fulfills a completely different need (small cal. handgun while carrying big long gun or vise versa) but I'll never carry 2 guns intended for the same purpose again. Note: I'm not saying "don't buy or use the handgun". I'm saying pick one or the other when you go to the field.

I have had both they are both good guns.

The advantage to the Ruger is the after market support.

To do a trigger job (they both need one) all you do is buy the parts and install them.

With the Browning it not so easy and I don't know of any one that works on them.
