Which 22Mag do you have ??

AH Hidaglo a man after my own heart LOL!!!!!!!! us Ruger nuts need to stick together ! I have the 77/22mag and have no complaints with it. Almost to purty to take in the woods though.

The Winchester 40g HP kills yotes better than any of the bullets that I tried.

I would have hunted with the Federal 50g, but my two rifles shot them with buckshot patterns.

I just got a used blue/walnut Ruger 77/22 in 22 Mag. I've got to scope it and see if I'll use it for night hunting here. I'm not a big fan of rimfires for coyotes. MI VHNTR

I have mine in a Chipmonk with a long releif 2 1/2 power Redfeild. Put the top of the stock rise on your cheek bone and you are looking right in the scope. Lightest scoped rig I have. Lighter than some of my pistols. Walk for ever with it.

At certain times I have to use a 22mag. here also. I've used a Savage/Anschutz 164M since the late 60's with great success, but retired it last year. I bought a Sako Quad and I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with it. 1/2" @ 100yds. with my favorite Coyote/Fox load of Win. 40gr. hp.. The only thing I have done to it is adjust the trigger down to 2lbs. and that was a very simple job. Heck, the owners manual even tells you how to do it. It was the best $425.00 I ever spent. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Hidalgo, I have a model 96 22 WMR, shoots great, have taken alot of game with it, it loves fed 50 gr HP's. My bro-n-law had a 77/22 mag and the lil lever would shoot circles around it.

Ruger 77/22 heavy target barrel laminated stock. Shoots the Remington 32 grain V-Maxs sub moa, usually like 1/2 to 3/4 at 100.

I have the same rifle..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

We're limited to rimfire only while deer season is open here,40grain HP's are they way to go.

I've got a Marlin 25MN bolt action.

It shoots ammo it likes into about 1.25" at 100 yards, which is probably as good as can be expected out of the 22WMR. So far though, I've been really disappointed with the killing power of the 22wmr... so far in my experience, the venerable 22LR makes better 1 shot DRT kills than the WMR does... Possums, skunks, all walk off like they weren't hardly hit.

I see several guys recommending the Winchester 40gr hollowpoints... I'll have to try those. I've got some on hand, they weren't my rifle's favorite load, but they still shot fairly well.

Ruger 10/22 WMR with Volquartsen Extractor, Green Mtn. Barrel and some other mods. Love the gun and shoots awesome. Have been shooting remington ammo with vmax'es and has great accuracy. Bought for night hunting coyotes but not sure if it has enough punch. Proper bullet placement is a necessity.

RileyLake: Give those super-x 40gr hp'd a try. Not to be confused with the 45gr dynaturd.

These are pulls from a wet phone book test. The three on the right ae the Win 40jhp's. The three on the left are Win-supremes. Which fragmented as you can see. I did not test other 40gr jhp's at the time. Btw the center rounds are the discontinued Rem 40gr. psp's. Now made by CCI.

Oh yeah, I have a Marlin 25mn, had the trigger done. I don't coyote hunt with it much anymore but where report might be a problem that & thr win-x40 would be a go to.

Hidalgo,
If a Henry .22 Mag. would interest you, I have one for sale in the Classifieds section of this website. It's been the most accurate .22 Mag. that I've owned.

Asking $300.

Good hunting, Bowhunter57

I bought a cheap Marlin 925M I believe it is called. Got it when one of the stores in town decided to liquidate all their guns after a major gun heist in the store one night. Haven't killed a whole lot with it yet, but a very fun gun to shoot.

I have a 982vs it loves 30 gr. hp+v by cci. If you miss within 50 yards its no the rifles fault. My uncle has a 77/22 and swears by it. Its a nice rifle, but i am waiting for the day when we can head to head marlin versus ruger.
