Which coyote rimfire caliber?

My .17WSM has dropped 3 coyotes in their tracks, and had only one runner which only made it about 50 yards before giving up the ghost.

It's not as 'cool'...

I'd imagine if one or two more manf'rs come up with 17 WSM actions, there will be a 20 WSM and 22 WSM in short order.

The big dog in my avatar fell to a 22 mag and it was an instant bang flop. It will certainly work. I would imagine 17wsm is better, but you would have to buy a bmag, yuck.

Do you belong to the PCOC?

22 mag and I have had great success with the Federal 50 grain hollow point. The Winchester 40 grain is my number 2 choice.

The 20 WSM already exists in the 5mm.

Im surprised more manufacturers havnt come out with a WSM. Its not like its a hard conversion from guns currently made. A custom 5mm would be easily done too.

Thanks for all your posts. I think I will just use my 22 Mag (Win 94M) for a while and see what comes down the road in terms of a larger rimfire.

The pressures of a 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum and a .17 Winchester Super Magnum are 33,000psi, far above the .17HMR and .22MAG. You cannot just convert any rifle, it has to be able to handle the pressures.

It's already done. I put the next version on hold due to the release of the B.MAG.

The rifle you see above started as a CZ Model 452 Scout in .22 Long Rifle. My gunsmith (pretty well known) and I worked on the conversion over a handful of months back in 2012. It functions great and shoots well. The next version was going to be a CZ 452/453 Magnum with a converted magazine to handle the rounds (my current one is a single-shot).

When the B.MAG came out, I put everything on hold because the conversion will be much easier, with the magazine being the most difficult. When the heavy barreled versions come out, then we will begin work on the next prototype.

Although many dislike the rifle (I don't), the B.MAG will breath life into the 5mm rimfire, yet again.

Here is the original thread when I finished up on the rifle:
CZ 5mm Rimfire Scout

Not surprised, just disappointed. Stupid, selfish marketing
on Remington's part (they wanted it ALL, and ended up with
nothing) cheated not only themselves, but all of us who wanted
one.

Be real nice if they were to bring it back and allow other
rifle mfgrs produce it as well as them. Might also be more
successful if they were to call it something like ".204
Rimfire".
