Which MP3 Player works best, easiest, and for least money???

I have been using a Rio 800, but would like an MP3 player that is easier to use with the "drag and drop" method using my PC. Also, it would be good to have a unit that has a know low noise signal to noise ratio in sound reproduction.

Anyone have any suggestions? All comments welcome.

Come on guys. Let me hear from some of you on what brands of MP3 players you are using, and what results you are getting with them. Would be neat to know how much they cost too.

I bought a Rio Chiba from ebay, 128mb with FM tuner. it plays fine when I am not using the wireless setup, but my 20gb ipod plays best with the wireless system so that is what I am gonna use.......
 
Thanks. Anyone else out there? I am looking for an MP3 player that is easy to transfer sounds to with the software proviede. In other words, simple to use drag and drop operation. Would like for it to be fairly inexpensive too, as I only need about 64 MB of memory, but 128 MB would be ideal. Any suggestions?

Most of the 64MB jobs are a few years old now; drag and drop as a standard feature is a little more recent. Good news being the 256MB and 512MB jobs are pretty inexpensive these days (sub $100). Considering the cost of some of the more expensive commercial callers, even if you spend a little more on your MP3 device you're still likely to be way ahead.

Me, I'd spend $249 for the new flash-based 4GB iPod Nano in a heartbeat--if it only worked with some of the other 3rd party iPod accessories... like microphones and wireless remotes. Apparently it does not /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sorry, realize that none of this is much help to you in your search. I'll be interested to hear what you find, though.

I have the iRiver 800 series, 128mb and 512mb versions. A little tough on old eyes to see the sound selection, but performs really well, you can turn the beep off, the volumn control from the player works really well, they both have the drag and drop feature. Got mine on Ebay, $50 and $79.

Which models iRiver exactly? Does the drag and drop work to load tracks without using their proprietary driver? (The support page for the iFP-890 had me thinking that one needs their software... not so?) That'd sure make it a lot more appealling as I use both a mac and a pc. While iRiver would now seem to have a mac version of their music manager--a rather recent development, methinks--not having to use it probably means one less piece of spyware trying to connect to the internet.
