---Which Muzzle Break??---

Do any of you guys have muzzle breaks that you would recommend or ones that you'd stay away from?

I'm looking for one to go on a rifle that will be used 100% for prone/bench shooting.

I was thinking about the Holland QD, but really have no experience with any of them.

Thanks!

For a prone rifle AVOID radial brakes (the ones with holes 360 degress) as they will kick up lots a debris and dust, and toss it back at the shooter.

I have been running A badger Thruster and highly recommend it.

Holland's Radial Baffle Quick Discharge is my favorite brake.
It is a solid-bottomed brake.

I agree 100%, I have had two of their brakes and both worked super on both rifles. I did have the one taken off my 300 Win. Mag. not because it didn't work but because it was so hard on the ears in the field(shot once with break on in the field with out ear protection and only once)

Still carry plugs in the field.

For prone just use a piece of tarp (canvas type) under muzzle. That being that you are just target shooting prone.
Off the bench you still want to make sure what ever is under the muzzle on the bench is cleaned off. Don't ask how I learned this.

I will never use a muzzle break on a rifle for hunting anything again.

Bench shooting is a big yes if I had a bench rifle in a cal. that I needed one on.

I say Hollands all the way.

The current Gen 2 Radial QD (no holes in the top), actually takes the gas back and up, not just angled back like the gen 1 Radial QD.
6.5-06 with a 140 grain A-Max 2880 fps.
Goofing around after confirming some LR drops.

I am using the Titian SJC 3 gun brake on my 300 Win Mag and it brought the recoil down to less then my 26" 25-06 Sendero. It has no holes in the bottom and doesn't kick up to much dust. It has made the recoil of 208 grain Amax bullets at near 3000 fps. feel about like my .243 sporter weight remington. I LOVE IT! Very good brake!

The Vais brake that I had on my .220 Swift lessened the recoil to that of my 10/22. Sure made for a lots of cool things to look at when shooting prairie dogs or ground squirrels with 50 grain Vmax bullets leaving the barrel at around 4000 FPS!

I was unfortunate enough to sit next to some at the shooting bench at the range who was using the boss system on his browning,,,,,to make things worse, the pavilion had a metal roof. Without warning on his part, and myself not having my ear protection on yet since I was getting set up, he let one fly,......not a fan. My left ear will never be the same.

Having shot several bench sessions next to someone using a normal muzzle brake, it's not pleasant for the shooters that are adjacent to one...

I think they are alright for shooting out in an open field for hunting purposes, but bench shooting at most ranges is frowned upon by most club members...They are only allowed in certain classifications of action competitions where there is no other shooters in the immediate area..

I just tried my new harrell's precision muzzle brake... I will say this, for a third of the cost of a vais ( I own two ) Harrells will be on my rifles from now on.

Is there ever a chance we could come to an agreement on how to spell it??? If you look at the meaning of the two words, it should be obvious.
