which one? M&P MOE mid vs Colt LE6920MP

This will be my first AR-15 purchase(probably a fun gun for light hunting, plinking and home defense), my budget is at $1200. I have it pretty much narrowed down between these two but being new to ar's not sure which one has the advantage. in my eyes the S&W seems to have a slight edge with the non chrome lined 1-8" twist( may stabilize 55 grain bullets better then the colts 1-7"?) and it has a mid length gas system from what I understand will be less recoil and slightly less wear and tear on the gun. but everywhere I read people say colt is top of the line and a better gun then S&W. your thought please! thanks in advance

I'm not a fan of the 1/7 or the carbine length. I think the 1/8 is a good compromise and I prefer the mid length rifles over the carbine length. The Colt is true Milspec but the Smith has the companies reputation riding on it. My vote would probably be the Smith as well. kwg
