Which Powder for .243 and or .308 are you using?

Ive tried Win760 for the lighter 60-70 grn havent found the perfect combo quite yet, IMR4350 has produced good results in the 80-85 gr. Looking to try some 4064 soon. seems like a good powder for many weights in my .243

I am planning on around the 180gr range for the .308.

I haven't decided on the .243 yet, but leaning to somewhere between the 90 - 110gr.

I will definitly start with Varget, 4064 sure has come up a lot, I think I am gonna have to give it a go too at some point too.
 
I think H4895 would work well in both. I use it for my .243 with 65 grain Vmax and it works really well. It was developed for the .30-06, so it should work in the .308 with out a problem. I've also loaded up some .22-250 rounds that shot great and I use it in my .223 also. I would say it is one powder that will work in several calibers.

In those 243 bullet weights try H4350 and H4831
 
In my .243 I have used H414 since day one. I have a 2 1/2" grouping at 400 yards with 70 gr. Sierras. That's good enough for me out of a factory barrel.
 
Been shooting H-380 from both for over 30 years. It may not be the best choice, but it does work for me, taken more game with these rounds than a dump truck could haul. 50 grs in my 308's behind a 165 SGK bthp, is bad mojo on whitetails and will shoot under an inch in 3 of my guns. 42 grs in my 243's behind a 85 gr SMK bthp, will shoot .75 at 100 yds all day. HOWEVER as with any loads you may experience some drawbacks. It is a rather dirty burning powder, but cleans up pretty easily. And in near zero temps you will prolly lose a little velocity and an ever so slight POI change. But all in all a useful and functional powder for both rounds IMO.

Just wondering what you guys are using. From what I have been reading I will probabbly need two different powders for these calibers?

I am not going to be loading for 1 whole groups. They both shoot MOA with factory rounds, just looking for something to do as good or a little better than the factory rounds. These are both hunting rigs right now.

I am currently loading for my .223's and handgun, so have varget and unique on hand, but realize these are not going to work for the larger cal.

dido to all the above, now if your shooting allot try out the wc-844 this is a great powder for everything from 223 to 30-06 half the price, most loads have data on line or in your manuals.
 
IMR 4064 for me. Its much cleaner than the Varget and works very well. I have not tried Ramshot TAC yet, but when I run out of 4064 I am planning on picking up a pound of it to try for a while. I have been reading some really good reviews on it. I have been using their XTerminator in the .223 with very good results.
