Guys I'm thinking about buying a rifle in 22.250 and was wondering which should I get here's 3 I been looking at and they are the Weatherby Vanguard sub-moa stainless, Kimber 84m and Remington 700 LVSF what do you all think???

I personally stay with either rem or savage. Id also consider looking in to a 223 Rem as they are alot more quiet. Lastly if you really want somethingt fast you might consider going to the 223 WSSM they are very fast. You can buy a savage WSM rifle like the 270 or 300 and then swap the barrel and get an after market custom 223 WSSM barrel for around 3 beans. Right now i have been considering moving way down to a 20 cal firball or fireball improved, because i really dont need all that power and noise as most of my shats are all under 100 with an occasional 150+. Just though id offer some different prospectives to mess with your head. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I wouldn't buy a 22-250 for a calling rifle. The thing is just too loud. Furthermore in a 22" barrel it won't produce a lot more velocity than a much quiter 223 or better yet a 221 Fireball.

I have a savage model 12 bvss and it is very accurate and the accutrigger is pretty sweet. It is not lite but it doesn't bother me. I would not over look the savage they are a good value.

I also have a Rem 700 VS and it is a good rifle but. I was holding out for the VSSF but it took remington to long to come out with it. My action and barrel did not sit right in the stock, barrel hitting on one side. Other than that is is fine. I would have no problem going to a savage though. And I do like that the barrel makers went to 26" barrels for their varmint rifles.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif i know a ton of people that use a 22-250 for a calling gun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

anyway! i like the rem.

I wouldn't buy a 22-250 calling rifle. But I had one built. It's a Remington 600 that started life as a .308. Now a 22-250 with a 26" 3 contour barrel and 4 X 12 Vari-X II. The gun and scope and sling are under 7.5 pounds.

I like the 22-250 and have to agree with those that said Savage.I would buy either the savage or stevens.Thease are great little guns for the money.

I have a Savage 12VLP in 22-250. This gun just plain shoots.
The vlp stock looks good, to me anyway, and for about $630 bones, cant be beat on price. The accutrigger on the varmint guns adjust down to about #2. You can't go wrong with a Savage in my book.

I have a Kimber 84m Longmaster in 22/250 and its a sweetie!!! Great trigger, shoots insanely well, barrel cleans up in a snap, nice stock and a silky smooth action.

Popapi,

I don't know for sure, but I venture to guess that the most widely used round to take coyotes would be the .22-250. I've got the Rem. 700VSSF with the muzzle crowned Savage style.
I fell in love with the VSSF's back when I attended a Sniper/Observer course for my dept. back in the late 90's. They bought me the same gun in .308 and it shot unbelieveably.
The Savage's, now with the advent of the Accutrigger, are superb shooter's for the money.

As far as a quieter round to hunt coyotes with, I've got the .223 and others, but I just had a custom barrel chambered in .22 Super Jet for my Encore. It's a non-commercial wildcat and the cases have to be made from .357 Magnum brass.
The ballistic's are slightly better than the .222 with the same weight bullets, and on approx. half the powder charge to boot.
The velocities are only slightly lower than the .223. I use about 14.3grs. of Li'l Gun and the 40gr. VMax, at 3400fps.
Just a fun gun......!

Take care,
Bob
