Which RIFLE in 22-250

I have the rem 700 vssf in 22-250. It shot great right out of he box and the only thing i did to it was adjust the trigger a little.
 
I'm very pleased with my Savage Model 12 22-250 with the AccuTrigger. The AccuTrigger takes some getting used but the Savage is capable of shooting better than I can. Not a big $ gun but it's a shooter.!
 
I've ordered a new Tikka T3 Camo Stainless in .22-250, and if its anywhere near as good as my .223 T3 Lite, I'll be happy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Yeah Jay...I did see those numbers.
Initially, when I made that statement it was based off of Sierra data that I still use quite often.
I think it was from the 4th Edition of their manual, which shows 3500fps for the .223 using 40gr. bullets.
After rechecking the data, I saw where they had a Hornet bullet listed, so maybe they kept velocities low for that reason....who knows.

After looking at Hornady's newer data, and now, VV powders on the link you left, instead of their being a 100fps. margin from my hunting load of 3400fps., to the .223 load "Sierra showed" at 3500+, it's more like 200+fps. difference, "max vs. max" with the newer data.
Pushing both the .22 Super Jet and .223 to their max loads, I can get 3620fps. out of the Super Jet, and the .223 shows 3846fps.
Never the less, you gotta admit, it's not bad on half the powder charge.

gust got rem 700sps varmit w/heavey barrel.got from dicks sporting goods 520.00 plus tax.came with 4-12x40 scope.shot it today.shoot great out of box.3in groups at 200yds.45gr win jhp.only thing at little heavy at 8lbs.22-250.
 
I have never seen a Weatherby that wasn't high gloss not recomended
Don't like rem particularily no reason probably common
I would go for the Kimber
22-250 would be a very good calling rifle as for being loud well by the time a coyote hears it he will be long DEAD

I think he forgot to put a space between the period.

I really doubt he meant .3" groups at 200 yards, more like 3 inches at 200 yards 1-1/2 MOA.
 
I guess I'm not understanding the loud report thing. I've used a 243 or a 22-250 for my main calling rifle for a lot of years and have called in lots of multiples. I've also used a 222 and a 223AI and I haven't seen a difference.

This year I called in a coyote that I hit with my 3 1/2" 12 gauge 3 times and had 2 another dogs come in right after the shots.

I have a 700 VLS and a Kimber 84M Classic both in 22-250. I prefer the Kimber for it's light weight and fast handling. I was concerned about the 22" barrel length but I made a long range kill with it and have stopped worrying. The Kimber shoots some spectacular groups and sometimes even surprises me. Check out the Kimber trigger before making up your mind. You'll spend one or two hundred dollars getting a trigger like it for the Remington.

What it all comes down to is personal preference.
 
If you're not going the custom route then get yourself an H-S Precision Varmint or a Cooper M22 Phoenix. The extra you'll be putting into the remmys and the savages via triggers, bedding, triggers, lapping lugs (remmy) etc, etc will out weigh the cost of the H-S and the Cooper.
