Which Savage .17 HMR?

I made a bit of money as a youth umpire recently and decided to purchase one of the Savage 93R17s. I am now having trouble deciding which one to buy.

I have shot the BTVS and liked it but was wondering which one you guys would choose and why.

I also have a question: All of the above are the same except stock style and barrel and action color, correct?

I'd skip the savage and start looking for a used marlin 917v. Google the savage and you'll see a good amount of them have extraction problems. If "I had to " pick a 93 it'd be the classic.
 
I have the GV, not a single issue with it and is one og my favorite shooters. I chose mine because the price was right. In any event, Id get a heavy barrel.
 
I have a btv and my dad has one of the btvs. We have had them out to SD on a couple PD hunts and have had "NO" problems with them. If I had to do it over I would have waited to find one of the bsev or the tr or the trr-sr. Just because I like the looks of them. Both my btv and my dad's btvs are tack drivers.
 
I have the BRJ model. I really like the vertical grip on it. And the goofy colored stock is cool. And it shoots lights out. These Savages seem to shoot quite nice.
 
Thanks for the input guys. So am I correct in thinking the actions, barrels, triggers, and bedding are the same in all of them?

I am leaning towards the BTV. Is there any reason I shouldn't?
 
I looked at the czs. To me they looked the same as the savages as far as the specs but I have no experience with either gun so I can't say. Are they worth the extra money?
 
I have a BTV got a nice Weaver on it, with no wind I decide which part of the bulls eye I want to hit, 5 shot groups leave
a 1 ragged hole. I didn't think a whole lot of it when I 1st seen it, but something caught my eye??????? then when I put it on paper, cha ching after sighting in and one minor problem with the barrel touching the stock, my 1st 5 shot group was 5/8" I can shoot 3/8" sized groups with it all day long. But that's just me the gun will shoot way better than that.
I have a marlin and about 3/4" is the best I can do with it.
but in all honesty I haven't worked with it a lot, and it has a BSA sweet 17 on it not near the scope on the Savage.
To me the thumb hole stock just makes it a pleasure to shoot.

IMO,,,, Yes
I can't warm up to Savages cheap plastic stocks and stamped metal parts reguardless of the accuracy claims.
CZ will shoot just as well (if not better), feel and look better, and fetch twice as much if you ever have/want to sell it.
And before someone shows up with the ol "made in USA" mantra,,, Savage rimfires arte made in Canada so it's a moote point.
Try and handle both and make up your own mind, but as far as I'm concerned, CZ's the only current day rimfire bolt gun I'd even concider in the sub 500.00 price range.
 
I shot the BTV and really enjoyed it so I ordered one at my local shop today. Should be here in 2 months

BINGO.

I have a Marlin 925M- plain jane, non free floated barrel and no aftermarket trigger that absolutely out shoots my bud's Savage 93 22WMR and he has a bull barrel, accutrigger and free floated barrel. Marlin Micro groove rifling is the bomb.

I love Savage CF, but their RF has a lot left to be desired IMO. And extraction problem to boot.
