Which scope on AR

I have been considering this as well. My thought was to put a traditional scope on top, since your primary purpose will be hunting. I was thinking of putting a laser on front for that security blanket feel if I were to need this rifle for HD.

Or for the price of a scope that can do close quarters and long range you could buy a traditional scope and a shotgun.

I like the 1x4 scopes for the thick woods I have here in NC. My new AR wears the Millett DMS scope that has a dot in a donut reticle. My other calling rifle has a Bushnell Trophy 1x4 with German #4 type reticle with illuminated dot. I like this reticle better, it is easier for my aging eyes to try to shoot groups. I just saw this scope

and may invest in it. Has everything I like personally, plus a little extra magnification. Would be interested to know if anyone else has experience with the Weaver Super Slam. I am curious to see if it is worth the price over the two cheaper 1x4 scopes I have.

BTW, besides the differences between reticles, I shot both of my AR's this week, side by side off a bench and could not see much difference between the Millett DMS and Bushnell Trophy as far as clarity.

The only thing that I do not like about my nikon ar 223 2-8x32 600yd bdc is that the turrets will turn on you with the slightest bump. It sucks getting in and out of a vehicle and having to recheck to make sure thatthe turrets haven't moved on you...on that note...the scope does track extrememly well. The optics are very clear and when I was home on leave, did not fog up on me once and the high temp for that hunt was 9degrees!
If Nikon would just get rid of the target turrets (because with the BDC what's the point) or make them smallenough so that they could put the screw on shields over the turrets then I think it would be an almost perfect setup.

I have a 4.5x14x40 VX-3 on my Oly .223 and a 4-16x42 Nikon Monarch on my Dtech .243 WSSM. Both scopes are clear and bright. Most of my shots are between 50 and 200 yards. I like the magnification for those longer shots.
