Which Scope?

I've decided on:

Bushnell Elite 3200 4x14x40
5x15x40

Burris Fullfield II 4.5x14x42

Nikon Buckmasters 4.5x14x40
6x18x40

Which one would have the best crisp clarity? I should tell you that I plan on using this on a .223 AR from Dtech, that I hope to be ordering in a couple weeks.

What are your all opinions on these scopes?

I have the Burris with Illuminated and it is awesome, very bright and clear. I have heard good things about the Bushnell Elite but have neer looked thru one, and about the Nikon...I dont know just not fan of Nikon.

I have and like the Bushnell Elite 3200 series. I have side by side compared the Nikon - Elite - Burris and the Burris was nowhere as clear as the Nikon and Elite. Of course I was comparing the Burris Fullfield II with Ballistic Plex that were coming with a free spotting scope. I have heard these scopes and the spotting scopes were NOT made in America and may be inferior to the optics made here.

I have the Nikon and Jon at the Optic Zone told me when I asked about the 3200 or the Buckmaster......said "it's a toss-up in clarity",,,,so I opted for the Nikon only because of the side focus. Makes it better for flip caps that way.
BTW......it is very sharp and clear....all powers.

scsims, mike just put my 25wssm in the mail today so i should recieve it in the early part of next week and it will be topped with a nikon 4x14x40 sf.i never had one but i heard good things about them so i went with it.the scope should also be here early next week so it's like christmas again.goodluck

I realize there's a good reason to "buy American made", but there's absolutely nothing wrong with Japanese optics. They make some of the best optical equipment in the world. Look at the cameras they make, Nikon, Canon, Fuji etc. These cameras, especially the Nikons, are considered some of the best available, because of the optics.

It's understandable to want to buy American, but fear of optical quality shouldn't enter into a decision on buying a Japanese scope.

I have the Nikon 4.5X14X40 on a CZ Varmint Kevlar 223
Getting 2 shot groups that touch each other at 100 yds.
For the money Its hard to beat also they do have a 3" sunshade avail for that scope as well I have it to.

Some of the Cannon camera's are made in China and I wouldn't count out Fuji either. Just thought I pass this on.

scsims,
i was leaning towards the 3200 myself until i read into it. the 3200 has multi-coated optics, 90% light trans. and raingaurd. the 4200 has fully-coated optics, 95% light transmission and rainguard. the LEGEND has fully-coated optics, 91% light trans. and no raingaurd. since i could not afford the 4200 i went with the legend in the 5-15-40 mildot. it seems like its between the 3200 and the 4200 if you take off the raingaurd. i am very pleased with it. my freind has two 4200's and they are just slightly brighter than my legend and he says they are clearer, but i cannot tell. if i buy another scope it will be a legend or 4200. or a nikon.

Coyote Control. Not meaning to argue. There's no telling where things are made nowdays. But I bet a lot of these things are just "assembled" in places like China, India, Viet Nam etc. It wouldn't surprise me if the Canons and Fujis "made" in China had optics that were made in japan still. Wouldn't surprise me if some of the European scopes had Japanese optics either. American made stuff too, for that matter.

As far as I know, nobody in the USA makes glass for scopes, cameras, telescopes, etc. From what I've been told by Leica, Nikon and other surveying equipment sales reps, there are only 3 companies that make lenses for civilian optics and they are all in China and Japan.

I own an Ellite 3200 and a Nikon Monarch. The Monarch is clearer, but the rainguard makes the 3200 a pleasure to hunt with.

What I was mostly referring to was not so much as the glass in the lenes of camera's but that the camera body's and etc are built in China. My wife's Cannon Digital and my Kodak Digital are both China.....mad mad mad, when I found this out!

My Leica Geovids were made in Portugal, but who knows where the glass might of come from or who actually made the lens.

There are several companies that can make glass for optics and I think Japan is probably the biggest supplier. The last America company that I heard that was making lens for scopes was for Burris....that was many years ago tho.

I have both the Nikon Buckmaster 6x18x40 and the new 4.5x14x50 and I am going to sell the 6x18x40 and buy another 4.5x14x50. I put the 4.5x14 on a 25 wssm and it makes for a very good package. The 50 is by far the clearer scope and for my shooting I like the low end 4.5 vs. the 6 power. I also have a VX1 4x12x40 and I may sell it for another 4.5x14x50.
