I'm in need of some new thermal underwear, anybody has brand recommendations. Will be used for mostly sitting with a little walking. Just seeing what all of ya'll are using.

I really like my under armor cold gear. Works as advertised. Breathes so you don't sweat. It does have an annoying habit of pulling hair on your legs /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif Even so, it still works better than anything else I've used.

I have under armor long sleve shirt thats great but i use swaet paint as thrmals. They works the best for me and cost less that just about anything else i have found.

any of the moisture wicking materials that many manufacturers use will do, just stay away from the old cotton long johns, they keep too much moisture near your skin and have a really bad thermal quality ( heat retention). Spandex tights under fleece work well for the $$ savings. COTTON KILLS

Each climate is different, and each material works differently on each person. I would suggest either 100% silk, or a mix with silk and wool. I dislike polypro's, but wear them a lot because they seem to work better here. I would prefer comfort, but I go with what works.

Polartec is the best I've used. Warm but also dries after you heat up.

Polartec underwear will give you a new outlook on hunting the cold.

I have not tried the under armour (that stuff is HIGH), but military issue polypropalene thermals work very well. In fact, it hardly gets cold enough here to wear it very often.

Silk & wool. Cabelas silk and Smart wool or Filson wool. These will retain heat and both the wools are soft. It is costly but they stand behind it 100%.
We have tried everything and this combo is the best money can buy, giving versatility. It keeps you warm sitting with a very broad comfort range. If you have to hike up a steep hill to a stand and work up a sweat This will wick it away and retain all of the heat too.

a couple of years ago I ran across a military product called polypropolene (spell??). It is very HOT!! It is a tight fitting green material that wicks the moisture away.

CAUTION: do not wear above 30 degrees! You will burn up. but if it is cold and you don't want to be wear it! it is about $20 for top or bottom. it is absolutely awesome!! heck, our tax dollars paid for its development.

I have found it at Basspro and military surplus stores. but it is hard to find. Basspro does not have it available online.

Polartec is great /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

The powerdry stuff is awsome I have worn it snowmobiling and for work and it still works after a good sweat. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I have some poly that was issued by the military. I think the name brand is Dakota. It's fantastic. A little lighter than the green poly we used to get, but almost as warm. There's also some good military stuff that we call Chinese Underwear. It's kind of a quilted material and I wore it when I was stationed in Alaska. It was by far the best for keeping warm that I've ever had. Pretty bulky though.

Under Armor, Rocky Brand, or Polypropolene. Those are my top 3 and not in any order.

I got my Rockies from Wal-Mart. I used them the last two elk seasons and they rock. Legs never got cold once nor did my upper body.

I use under armor at work, because it's thinner and works well with everything else I wear in LE.
